What type of mineral does this particular mine mine out of the hills?

Sodor doesn't mine coal. It only produces lead, slate, granite, ballast, etc.

The TV Series always gets everything wrong, including the model series. A true Sudrian historian would know that there are no coal mines on Sodor, and that the coal would have to be transferred to the Island by British Railways, or by ship.

But Sodor still doesn't produce coal, whether you like it or not. Follow the routes of the Railway series, but with some TV series characters.
