I'm simply amazed. I even thought that this was a painting of a landscape or some sort of digital artwork at first glance!
Even the sky, weather and reflection of the water looks perfect and serene. Not to mention how all the colors and shadows blend in really well.
All I have to say is great job in capturing the beauty and essence of nature.

Oh! I love it when the clouds are like that. Sadly I don't have a camera (parents gave it away), so when the sky was perfect, and the fall leaves fluttered, I could not take a picture
but what a spectacular panorama you have! excellent composition ! I love the reflections on the lake. you have a beautiful view from wherever you were standing.
also, congrats on the DD!

Much nicer than the mucky brown pond I lived near in Wheaton, my one year in Illinois. But it had its moments, usually around dusk. I love watching water-rats swimming, with those long snaky tails, and someone had apparently dumped a pet carp there years ago. If you were paying attention, you could see a ghostly pale form rise from the depths like a fever dream, with a brief swirl of rose-edged scales before the leviathan sank again.

By coincidence I now live in Wheaton. I want to know where this pond is.

NonieR In reply to MDV1 [2010-12-24 06:55:17 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, I doubt I could find the pond at gunpoint. It was, oh, 15-16 years ago, and I only remember it as out back of an apartment complex which was, if I remember, a bunch of one-story fourplexes or something, surrounded by pines.

And, well, I lived there maybe three months before, let's see, moving in with a female lover in Aurora, moving out solo in Naperville, moving in with a boyfriend who became my second husband (more Naperville), and then Computer Associates bought out my employers and gutted the business, so I followed a new job to the San Francisco bay area....

So I didn't end up with a very clear sense of local geography. I think my clearest memories are of, what is it, 350 north/south? Between the mall (and the Container Store, my fave ever!), my aforementioned boyfriend from Carpentersville, picking friends up at O'Hare, gaming in Dundee and then in--what's the place? I keep trying to call it Hancock Shores; a newish development west on ?70?.

My main frustration in that year in ChicagoLand was that, to get just about anywhere, you had to take a crowded highway to downtown Chicago before angling back out on another radius. Had a couple of stores I liked up north in Evansdale(?), which meant flying north on Lakeshore at dangerous speeds while trying not to hit anything. And let's not even DISCUSS Lower Wacker Drive, which I'm certain is a penance to all of us for living a sinful life.

You wouldn't know from all that that I LIKED the area, would you.

I'm now back in my old college town, Iowa City; I can't afford the big cities now that I'm on Disability, and, well, my mother's 81 and lives less than two hours' drive from here. But I still miss almost everything about ChicagoLand except the traffic.

And you know, I never did get around to seeing the famous Wardrobe (of the Lion, the Witch, and) when I was in Wheaton. I bet it's had a lot more tourists this last few years....

Wishing you good weather for the holidays, and I'm sorry I'm so vague about the geography. Thank you for the nice sunny picture!
