Description

Numix-Circle is the newest Numix icon theme and it uses circle shaped applications icons.

This is version 14 of it and it comes with about 2150 application icons covered (over 800 more than the previous version) and the biggest change in it is that the baseplate background shape and some of the icons symbols have been completely redone so it feels like a whole new theme. It is a huge improvement over the previous version.
It has custom:

  • Folders icons

  • System Settings icons

  • Indicator icons

  • Symbolic icons

  • and more

These non application icons are part of the basic Numix icon theme, which you can download or purchase from here .

It is GPL licensed and the "code" is hosted at GitHub .

If you wish to install it under Ubuntu (or derivates) execute the following commands in terminal:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:numix/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install numix-icon-theme-circle

If you wish to support the project please buy the icon theme for every dollar counts.

Other Numix related artwork can be found here .

Don't forget to circle our Google + page , become a member of our Google+ community and visit our official webpage .

Icon requests and bug reposts should be filled in Launchpad as bug reports.

NOTE: Please check our website for instructions for installing under Fedora/RedHat and openSuSE.

P.S. If you want to request in application icon do it the THIS WAY .

Can you make Thunar icon just like the other file managers? In my opinion the current one is not very intuitive.

This is not related to the numix-circle icon theme, but to the basic numix icon theme. File a bug report against it - github.com/numixproject/numix-…

Just one question: do you know how to individually theme icons in elementary OS?

Greetings, this is a great work. However, I recently run into an error with when I try to run ubuntu software center:

Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "/usr/bin/software-center", line 142, in
   app = SoftwareCenterAppGtk3(datadir, xapian_base_path, options, args)
 File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/app.py", line 387, in __init__
   self.datadir)
 File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/panes/historypane.py", line 78, in __init__
   self._get_emblems(self.icons)
 File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/panes/historypane.py", line 192, in _get_emblems
   pb = icons.load_icon(emblem, self.ICON_SIZE, 0)
 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/types.py", line 43, in function
   return info.invoke(*args, **kwargs)
gi._glib.GError: Icon 'package-remove' not present in theme

I would guess the last line is indicating something missing out there.  I don't know if I carelessly deleted something or if it's a general problem with your theme.  Software-center starts perfectly with the other theme.  My system is running elementary OS 2.0 (based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS).  Thank you and please keep up with your great work.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

me4oslav In reply to Dablim [2014-01-10 11:54:09 +0000 UTC]

Nope, that ain't happening. We sepeaated the icon themes so, app icons go in one theme and all other icons (folders included) in another theme. That allows us to have one basic icon theme and as much as we want apps icon themes. As I have said in the description you need to install the basic Numix icon theme - satya164.deviantart.com/art/Nu… for you are to have the complete package.

squarebottle In reply to me4oslav [2014-03-09 04:53:30 +0000 UTC]

First off, thank you very much for your work. I'm an interaction designer, and I really think your work is extremely impressive on a lot of levels. I liked it enough that I paid for the this and for the GTK theme even though I use KDE when in Linux. (Signed into Deviant Art for the first time in forever to do it, even!)

Second -- and this is why I'm replying *here* -- I think it would be fantastic if you'd consider making an overlay for Gentoo. It would certainly make me very happy, and I'm sure a lot of others as well. If you did, it would also work for Sabayon and any other Gentoo-based distros. I don't identify as an engineer, so I have no idea if it's hard or easy to make a Gentoo overlay, but I hope that you'll at least look into it on the chance that it turns out to be something trivially easy for you. Or maybe you just feel like making my day, heh.

Regardless, thanks again and fantastic job.

me4oslav In reply to squarebottle [2014-03-09 10:52:29 +0000 UTC]

Gentoo overlay? What is an overlay?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

squarebottle In reply to me4oslav [2014-03-10 21:27:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for replying.

Basically, "overlay" is just Gentoo's word for third-party repository. I think that you basically upload the same things to your overlay that you'd upload to your github. I believe this based on how Gentoo's package manager is all about compiling packages for your hardware before installing, whereas other package managers only install pre-made generic binaries.

Gentoo Linux has a big community, and also, Sabayon Linux is based on it (and they have their own big community too). If you were to make an overlay, I really do sincerely believe that you'd find a lot of people to use it. Sabayon's users in particular seem to love being on the bleeding edge of making their systems look and feel great, so for that reason alone, I think it would generate a lot of interest (and gratitude) if you reached out by making an overlay.

So, hopefully I've convinced you that (1) it would be easy, and (2) there would be interest.

I'm not a developer/engineer/programmer, but I'd be happy to talk more. And if you don't want to make up your mind yet but feel like tinkering with Gentoo, then I'd be happy to help you install it, or talk about anything you're curious about. I'd like to be as helpful as I can be, regardless of whether you look into making an overlay or not.

me4oslav In reply to squarebottle [2014-03-10 22:19:51 +0000 UTC]

We most definitely don't have time resources to install Gentoo and learn Gentoo packaging. However we would love if somebody from the Gento/Sabajon community does the packaging work for us. We are willing to provide packagers with any info necessary.
