Description
Yep, good ol' fashioned 400 speed, 35mm b&w film in an old camera which has since perished. You should recognize the subject by now since I've spent many an hour photographing it.It should be noted that although I love the absolute control you have over a manual camera, and as much as I wish I could have a modern manual camera, I gained an extra appreciation for autofocus while capturing this image. It can be a bit difficult holding a heavy camera in one hand and the subject in the other, then having to put the subject down to adjust the focus and aperture and shutter speed settings, then pick the subject back up only to see that the settings STILL aren't quite right, set it back down, do more tweaking with the camera, pick the subject back up, find that things aren't quite right yet, set it down again....
You may be thinking, "It's called a tripod, Meagan. A tripod." But you would be wrong. First, I don't have a tripod. Second, I was doing this while balancing in front of a mirror overlooking a sink with a very slim amount of counter space because I felt the lighting I wanted to achieve worked best in this magical space. And thirdly, shut up, professional photographers.
Kidding... But I really did enjoy taking this picture. It was my favorite to work on by far out of all my photography projects. The assignment was to work with native lighting and capture an image that plays with directional, specular light.
