Description
Made for a commissioner, I present Amon's Mask from Avatar: The Legend of KorraI am super proud of this beast, using techniques I had never used before, making a brush on mold and a mother cast, this mask is made from cast plastic using the slush technique. I will be putting this up on etsy made to order after the weekend, so get excited!

Currently I making this mask too, but I have problem.
I wish can mask just like series inside, doesn't need the rope to tied behind head.
My mask will drop when looking down after wearing on it. D:...

Did you change the shape of the mask on purpose, or was your reference wrong, or you just don't know how to copy references?
Seriously, I just made a mask of his on my own with papier mache and making it identical to the one on the show in perfection IS DRIVING ME CRAZY. I mean, really, cut of scenes of Amon's mask in the show changes THE WHOLE TIME!!!!

I used the references I found and compared to other masks made. I would advise you to do the same. Keep in mind that as a traditionally animated show, the consistency of designs may fluctuate. As far as I am considered, I did this as accurately as possible. My only perceived flaw is that the circle in the forehead is off center. If I may, in the future please try to find a less rude way of phrasing your questions.

How does it rest on the face? Is it supposed to be worn?

It's a mask, so yup, you wear it on your face. This client didn't want a strap to be attached since it was a gift, he decided the guy who'd be wearing it would decide what strap it'd have. If I were trying to be quick and easy, I'd use a elastic strap. If I wanted to be more authentic to the series, I'd have cloth ties.

Red clay, if you look in my wip gallery you'll see it there. Sadly it died while I was removing it from the mold. Haha since this was a first using these materials/techniques, I was so relieved that this worked XD

Looks great love it. Might have some small issues with symmetry at the moment tho

Yea, I know. Sadly it's too late to do anything about it, but this was my first time using red clay as well as this molding process, so...XP Haha, still 98% jazzed. At least the symmetry problem should be mostly hidden by hood

The original is made from red clay that I made a mold with brush-on rubber and made a mother mold with a putty, then cast the mask out of liquid plastic. Most of the materials can be found on smooth-on.com, it's a really great site, very informative
