reminds me of Cherno-Alpha from Pacific Rim...oh mah gawb, Sapphire and Ruby are totally the pilots.

That's actually where I took a lot of inspiration from, as well as Big Fau. All of the Crystal Gem Mechas I drew following Pearl's were based on existing Mecha designs (Amethyst's is meant to look like Gouf, and Steven's is meant to resemble Gigantor).
