MGS-videogame : Raiden (cyborg ninja?)-----------------------------------------------
[link]
Anyway, here goes nothing, Raiden's BJD story is quite interesting, I'll make it short so you don't loose interest, one day I was about to get the "Chiron Centaur" from SoulDoll [link] and a friend called home, by the time I got back from the phone the doll was SOLD-OUT (and has being like that since that day).
So I took my money and I looked up for alternatives, among them there was this "little cyborg girl" from Impledoll called "Heloise - IM Robot-3 (LE100)" [link] and her design was a evident ripoff of MGS-Raiden ninja [link] but "female", ok, so I had the money and I couldn't buy the doll I wanted, so I brought her home.
But after her arrival I discovered they sent me 2 pairs of hands just the same because one hand had a broken finger (I fixed the hand anyway so I had more hands on my stock), I used the completed and good shaped Eloise doll to try to mimic some Raiden features more closely, but I discovered a big flaw, "Raiden has no boobs".
I was somewhat bother because I didn't want to sand the chest of a limited edition doll that only had 300 units made worldwide, and the dark black blushing I wanted to use just keep on scratching on the usual places (joints), so I had this idea, I was going to re-cast a new body from my Eloise original body in BLACK RESIN, that way I could destroy the body all I wanted for modification and simulate battle damage, PLUS, I could stop worrying about the paint on the joints. And so I did.
I was looking for a Raiden look more like 'wounded', skinny, like someone sick (after all he lives in the war and his body was literally ripped off leaving only half on his head and his spinal cord, that's not a way to go). I want to give him the look like he was damaged, inside and out, not so much as the glorious scenes we usually see when he is killing like 30 Metal-Gears in a row...and I think I got it just right.
This process took me like 3 or 4 years of deciding 'what to do', but overall now I think is worth it. The recasted Raiden in black resin has the original Eloise head and the spare hands fixed by me, wile the original Eloise Iple body went to cyber-Miku-Sama (Vocaloid) because Miku usually takes the recurrent theme of puppets, mechanic dolls and cyborgs from electronic music so often than just seemed right...
Nor come to think the original Eloise might have being also a very nice "ALITA battle angel" [link] ...but I'm just not fan of that character. Maybe I will work some more on Raiden later but over now that's it.
Hope you like him at least a bit.

I really love how you managed to pull this off - you stated that you wanted the doll to capture that kind of sickly, wounded appearance that you would imagine someone like him would have considering the trauma he's been through.
To me, what captures it particularly well is the subtle shadowing in the eyes, and the work on the chest to show battle wear. This looks wonderful. <3

I'm going to be completly honest with you, I have left this comment unanswered for soooooo long because I didn't knew what to say.
By the time your comment came in this doll was already completely modified due to Raiden released as a PlayArts Kai figure and a HotToys 12 inch figure I saw a more proper use for this BJD and ended up rebuilding her former self as the "lady robot" she/he was intended to be on the first place....
So I don't know if I'm disappointing you or not, but I might make another Raiden BJD at some point or another, but this specific doll is...well.....is a girl now...

Oh christ, I haven't checked DA in six months, apparently. |D
It's YOUR doll, you can do whatever you'd like with it. I was simply remarking on the fact that it looked really well-done, and felt that positive feedback was definitely warranted for it! No need to explain yourself to me. Either way, your BJD work is remarkable. I've always been interested in it, but I lack the funds and skill to do much more than admire others' finished products.

Well, thanks , I'm finally getting more into writing books (about my dolls) and that means some characters I had from *well know franchises* have to be relegated into other types of figures, as you said, it's an expensive hobby and even more for south america, where I live customs and PO services from other countries (international I mean) have being closed (to this date) since 2013/2014... so... even if you had the money it's pretty hard to get your hands on a doll anyway. :/
You either end up doing one yourself or taking advantage of previous dolls used for characters they already have their own action figure and you can now re-shell a new OC from your own invention into them...
Speaking of it, have you ever tried to make your own doll?, I know maybe you don't have the time or the materials but you can give it a try with a smaller version of a doll you like... can point you out into the right direction if you'd like, I've being uploading and making a list on my blog about all sort of BJD stuff, most of them try to translate them into Spanish too, here's the link: diario-secreto-bjd.tumblr.com/…
