Description
It has finally gotten a bit warmer and a lot of critters have come out. And I've noticed these bee flies, or as I like to call them "hummingbird flies", because their behaviour reminds me of the hummingbird moth a bit. And they have this elongated rostrum, which looks really menacing, but they're absolutely harmless. This one in particular is greater bee fly, Bombylius major. Usually they're too busy sucking nectar and fulfilling their role as pollinators, but every once in a while they sit down and relax for a bit.
