Description
Octabrain, as he is portrayed in Duke Nukem Forever. As cool as he looks, he's an annoying bastard. He throws objects at you and shoots... umm... mind projectiles I guess. Anyway, if they hit you, they hurt. Also it doesn't help that they might throw at you your explosives. He was my favorite monster from the Duke 3D and I was glad to see him in the new, far scarier design.Picture was based on the render of Octabrain. This picture can be found on Google, just type in "octabrain Duke Nukem forever" and you'll find it.
In my other picture I mentioned that the bossfights aren't all that exciting. And I stand by that, take the Alien Queen- most of the time she doesn't do anything, yeah she'll try to smash you every once a while, but most of the time she's hidden beneath her shield. Cowardly bitch! All you do the entire time is 1) throw a grenade and 2) fire rocket launcher 3) kill the minor enemies. It simply puts me to sleep. The worst part is that this had potential to be awesome fight if only the queen was more active. Thankfully the other fights are much better- The Octaking and the final bossfight with Cycloid Emperor are the highlight of the game.
DNF has found a way to piss me off though, I tried to carry the golden gun throughout the campaign and when I got to the Octaking I switched to the machine gun in hope I'll be able to pick it up later, then I died and after restarting the checkpoint I didn't have the gun anymore.
Octabrain and DNF are (c) Gearbox

I actually meant that they are very hard to defeat in-game...sorry.

Oh my god, the same thing happened to me. I accidentally picked up a gun while trying to use the Turret during Round 1 with that Octaking SOB and couldn't find it again ;~;
And the Octaking fight itself? Or at least the second and final time you fight him?
Good...luck. Seriously. I'm playing on Come Get Some and that fight was WAY too hard.

I lost it during the second part where you're on a moving platform. Besides Octaking himself you'll have to deal with several octabrains that protect him. And believe me, I had bigger problem dealing with them than with the king himself.

So did I...I was actually forced to use the Beer (2 of them) and a Holoduke just to beat him.
Good news is though, when you get the Octaking to the point where he rips out the wall and takes out your shelter (which hardly protects anything) he'll stop spawning Octabrains.
I'm just gonna speedrun the game on Piece of Cake to get the Gunslinger achievement at this point >.>

I did it with only the holoduke.
I've played through the game twice and I already got the Gunslinger achiewement.

At least the other boss fights haven't been that bad yet. Though the second part of the Hoover Dam Battlelord battle I got really lucky on.
How much more is left of the game after the Octaking? I'm currently on the underwater level where you have to plant wall bombs on the dam.

Only 2 levels left- escaping the dam and a final boos fight.

Aren't there two? Energy Leech and then the Cycloid Emperor?

The energy Leech is at the end of the underwater level.

Damn, three boss fights close together. They spared no expense for challenge there XP

Only 2 boss fights- the dam escape doesn't have a boss.

Yeah, I didn't mean back to back, but it's a much closer gap than the other boss fights.

Very good work with this one!
And I agree, these are really annoying in DNF. In Duke 3D they were easy to kill with rpg but in DNF rpg and devastator are useless against them...

Weird, when I approached the Octaking with Devastator I also used it to kill the Octabrains that protected him and it worked. They didn't deflect a single shot.
Thank you

that's odd. When I tried it the octabrains threw them back. Octaking didn't, but at some points he did. But that happened if he wasn't focused on doing something else.
You're welcome

Wait, when I think about it I was firing at them usually right after they shot their mind projectiles.

Guess I'll have to play the entire game again and make sure I won't do any mistakes.
