Description
Photographing these predatory flies (Tachydromia annulimana) is a real challenge. If they catch a glimpse of you, they will dart away, or they will do that if they see something tasty coming their way. I've shot its relative Tachypeza nubila (which has nice iridescent wings, that shine in all colours) that in the middle of the shooting decided to munch on some barklice.
So, shooting these things is quite problematic, but when you finally get results, it's more than worth it. Look at the head, it's all eyes.
