Description More paleoart, hopefully more anatomically correct. I saw this dip in the frill of the Trike skull between and behind the horns and i thought it would be cool if that held a thick piece of flesh were feathers could anchor into. The rest of the top of his head is also covered in thick, brightly colored skin for added showiness. I know trikes have a large hole in the skull behind the nasal opening (I'm not sure what it's called), but I wasn't too sure if it would be as visible as I usually see it, so that got covered in flesh. The small nose horn is covered and used as a display piece, because i can't really see it being that useful for defense because of its size, or even for rooting plant tubers up because of its placement on the head. I gave him a callous like pad on the chest (that fleshy bit that hangs down), like what you see on bulls and camels. I figured that would form over time from the trike lying down. Quills cover it's back and sides for added protection. I tried not to shrink wrap him. I think I did fine with that.

I had come up with a few ceratopsid-like critters in my sketchbook with crests of feather instead of bone. But the possibility never occurred to me of ceratopsids maybe having feathers or quills on their crests!

hehe yeah. This was one of the first things I did when I got back to dinosaurs. After having studied them a bit more I can confidently say this is close to impossible. Still, the idea was fun to poke around with.

A very possible speculation !

Considering its a fact that almost all dinosaurs (''' dinoAvians ''') had feathers; even a large tyrannosauroid like yutyrannus was fully of feathers -- even in its head was full of fur; Triceratops genera were had feathers as well

possibly, There may have been some quills growing between the scales on the tail, but skin impressions show large scales and even larger scutes interspersed between them. The idea that the scutes were bases for quills has been thrown about but is unlikely. They may have supported short spikes if anything.

Oh; I hope the spikes get an evidence. Although I remember I saw '' holes '' in the fossilized skin impressions of Triceratops'es

umm i think triceratops was scaly with quills on its back so no feathers. However, it looks nice.
