oeh nice setup man whise i had enough money to buy new screens mine are 2 x 17"

only thing you need is ultramon to get your taskbar on monitor 2, it works really great i have it to

MediaDesign In reply to AdmantiumNL [2008-11-02 13:45:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I actually ended up getting Ultramon. I used to use it a while ago when all I had was a laptop and a second 17" LCD screen. Which they made a new version, sometimes it gets very buggy.

Simple specs, but pretty cool none the less.

Pros:

Qx6600 quad core cpu

Asus p5k-E motherboard

The samsung monitors ( samsung PWNs )

Cons:

The HDD is pretty slow

The GPU is not best choice as you can get far better now for much less $ and also is more powerful than this one.

.................................................................

Overall: not a bad rig Ben, but you could have done better for your buck imo ( though when it comes to extravagant purchaes i can't really talk LOL )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MediaDesign In reply to EnzuDes1gn [2008-09-30 11:16:42 +0000 UTC]

About the cons, only the 80gb HDD is a Seagate, I'm not entirely sure what the other one is, but I know it's a much better brand than the 80. At the time I bought the computer, the GPU was the best I could get for the money. But technology is getting better and cheaper by the day so you can't win lol.

Honestly, for the setup I have it cost a total of $2,400, and we're talking Australian prices, so the cost in American is like $1,900-2,000.

Thanks for the review

Hmm fair points Ben, and yes you can never win, hell If I had waited one extra month when I did my last computer updates, i would not have gotten the 9800 GX2, i would have instead opted for two 280GTX 's

but meh still my pc pwns so fuck it

all i eman on HDD is it's rather slow performance wise, you would have been better with one of the new samsungs or the new western digital raptor X

and your welcome mate.

Really? I don't know anyone who's done up their computers lately. Then again, I don't know many people who are as computer-enthusiastic like I am, and those who are never seem to have the money lol.

I've just gotten a new one with a bank loan that I also used for a car. Super fast, 2 500gb hard drives, finished setting up to dual boot Linux Mint x64 and Vista x64 earlier

wonderwhy-ER [2008-09-30 10:56:23 +0000 UTC]

Looks good. Though I not really like this monitor model curves. Makes it look fat. I have 226bw which looks flat and tech. And this looks as if it was made to fly in air-tube

Then why you have 4 Logitech speakers in front of you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MediaDesign In reply to wonderwhy-ER [2008-09-30 11:05:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I originally didn't want to get it because of the curves, but now that I have it, it looks a lot better in life. Also, it's actually quite a thin monitor.

There is 5, the middle speaker is sitting on the sub woofer, which is hidden behind the monitors (damn their large-ness!)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wonderwhy-ER In reply to MediaDesign [2008-09-30 11:28:43 +0000 UTC]

Well my 22 is not looking that large any more. Well big but not that big Try watching a movie on it sitting few meters away But for games and other computer activities seems like enough

Considering speakers you have different configuration then setup in setting? Not surround?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MediaDesign In reply to wonderwhy-ER [2008-09-30 11:56:26 +0000 UTC]

I went from a 17" to two 22" so they almost seem too big lol.

Not sure what you mean about the last sentence?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wonderwhy-ER In reply to MediaDesign [2008-09-30 12:21:20 +0000 UTC]

Well there are different types of how sound is sent to speaker. Mono for one speaker stereo for two and different settings for more. For 5.1 surround is where speakers are all around user so that front is in front left and right is in front-left and front-right and two rear ones are behind the listener. This is surround configuration where sounds that happen in game or movie in behind of listener are sent to rear speakers and so on.
Actually here [link]

But on your photo it seems that all 5 speakers are in front of you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MediaDesign In reply to wonderwhy-ER [2008-09-30 12:46:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah they're all in front of me because there is no place to put the rear ones behind me lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wonderwhy-ER In reply to MediaDesign [2008-09-30 12:58:03 +0000 UTC]

And have you changed settings for them or those who should be back playing back sounds in front of you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MediaDesign In reply to wonderwhy-ER [2008-09-30 13:03:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's all set up correctly.

Very nice setup. All shiny black goodies. May I ask which OS you're using? I can see it's a Windows, but you're not using Aero so far I can see.
