This is a beautiful piece. The character in his face, is well shown with the lines. I am a big fan of scratchboard and really need to get back into it. Keep up the great work.

Have you ever worked in clayboard? It's much nicer to work with than regular scratchboard paper. It's almost like butter on your scraper and it looks so much creamier. I think you are good enough at it that you really should work in the better medium.

this is a really great job. I have done a few scratchbords recently and it is much harder than it first appears to be. Very realistic.

The detail here is amazing. I have only one scratchboard piece, and I have no hand for it, my brain just doesnt see things that way.

Gee, this is just incredible. When I looked at it the first time (and the second time, and the third time, until I read your description) I though it was a really beautiful photograph. Now I know it is an even more beautiful scratch! You could have probably cropped it a little bit to leave out the blank space on the top, but that is just a minor detail. Who did you scratch that after?

I think your teacher was right - I think it was good to leave out the rest of the head/hair, creates a nice atmosphere of even more mystery/scariness!
