I've never been in one where it's art-based before!
The person I got assigned was *Achird , who wanted Arkana! I had absolutely no idea who that even was and looked it up. XD; I totally forgot about him! I also am used to hearing him called Pandora. I have never even thought about drawing him, so this was quite a challenge! It was so much trouble, and I'm really glad I got it done! I worked on this somewhere around 20 hours. orz I sought so many references and guess what? THERE ARE NO DECENT-SIZED FULL-BODIES OF PANDORA ANYWHERE! I was almost done with the line art before I found episodes with him in it. (I was too lazy to look through the manga stack to see if I had what book(s?) he was in.) ...Friggin' pants. All I wanted was to know what his friggin' pants look like. :I
This was a real... experience! XD I'm sure once my back and wrist stop hurting, the memories will suddenly change to nothing but fondness. My favorite part is, sadly, the sparkles. Haha!
Drew it on pencil and paper with no reference, took a photo, sketched over it in Photoshop CS5 (downloaded the trial) with the help of references, inked it, then colored it!

Thank you! In the English 4kids dub, the names are Arkana and his red Dark Magician. In the Japanese, their names are Pandora and his red Black Magician.

I don't know WHY I never commented on this before. I mean, I run the damn Arkana club, AND cosplay Arkana with a PASSION. He is by far my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh Character... EVER.
This is absolutely amazing, and I LOVE the black duel disk. The detail on his Dark Magician card is pretty amazing as well.

But no, dude, I totally forget to comment on or do things/think I already have. Thank you so much! The card was really tedious and I tried to stay true to it, but trying to make it look like it was glowing was a challenge! Shrunk down, it's hard to see many details at all, but what I posted on dA is at best half the size (I would say almost three times smaller?) of the original. And this was the first time I've ever drawn a duel disk -- I wasn't actually meaning to color it off of the real colors (I'm a derp), but by the time I realized I'd done it, I was, well, done. XD I realized I liked the way it looked and kept it. I'm glad I did because it seems to really fit the image and the character!

You know one of the things I noticed most about Arkana when I watched the 4kids version of the show, was that he got away with licking his lips.XD I saw him do it, and the next thought was "Wait a second, they don't censor wen this psycho licks his lips, but they censor everytime Bakura licks his lips(Which is a lot btw XD)." I guess that its because when Arkana icks hi lips he looks more evil, but when Kura does it, it just makes him look Smexy.XD It was probably too much for the fangirls to handle. But yeah, that was my random story of when I actually paid attention to Arkana when I started watching the 4kids english dub again. This is an awesome pic btw

I don't remember that episode! I actually haven't seen it since the first time it aired on TV, haha.
I don't know why they pick and choose what they edit like that, leaving some characters doing the exact same things and editing it out for others. I'm sure they have their reasons, but still.

I love the poses you put both of them in, especially Arkana's- he looks so deranged and ready to attack you. owo And the Magician looks so badass, especially with those sparkles. And the shading on everything is so detailed and realistic, it's wonderful! And zomg, you included Catherine back there! 8D

I actually had a totally different pose in mind, but I couldn't draw it no matter what! (You know "off days"? Was definitely having one of those!) I like the way this one turned out, though!

This is amazing. So many sparkles. Lol And his Dark Magician I have always loved. Along with Yugi's. But I guess the reason why I liked Arkana's even though I couldn't stand him, is because his Magician is red. I was always used to the one Yugi had, then I saw this one and was like, "OMG, that's so awesome."
