Description
Olive (Liv) is very affectionate and already knows me. She loves to wrap around my wrist like a bracelet. She is very soft and not at all slimy like people think snakes are. Her colours are quite beautiful, being an olive gold instead of a browny gold.. Hence her name, Olive.Related content

Oh Addam, she is so beautiful. The pictures do not do her colouring justice at all!
She is the most gorgeous olive gold, the top of her head just shimmers with it!
Tomorrow is the first time that I feed her I'm a little nervous about that.

she was very stubborn. I couldn't get her to take it from me
so I took her down to the shop where I got her and the young guy
that bred her showed me how. We got her to eat 2 tiny newborn mice.
I'll try again next Sunday. He said he would be available if I needed him.
I hope by then she will have decided to eat
I was holding her this afternoon, right in the sunshine,
and the colours on the top of her head were amazing

aww..sounds like you got a keeper
but yes..ball pythons are very finicky eaters..have a regular female and she snub at food for months sometimes. the yellow is probably 2-1/2 feet or so..he still looks tiny compared to the 7 and 8 year couple! think they are fully grown and theyre both around 5..5-1/2 feet..6 inches round
cant wait to see more pics of your baby

oh, she's a keeper! You'd have do some damage to get her away now
I won't mention to hubby just how big your couple are
He isn't all that happy about her
How many do you have? Pics in your gallery?
So if she snubs at food for that long, how do you get her to eat?

hehe...she seemed to enjoyed holding noodle..though her expression looked otherwise! loves marty and the other two females are daddys girls.. she loves the bearded dragon, butters, the most though

Oh, yeah! Beardies are awesome! I had one for 5 years but she died.
We don't know why. I still really miss her.
My friend just got one for her and her daughter.
She is quite the active little one
We keep saying we should set up playdates for Liv and Cilla

aww..can tell she's in good hands
lol..they appear tiny compared to my albino burmese!
i currently have four..the two older ball python couple..marty [link] and heidi [link]
ruteger which i need to get some new pics of..hes the shyest of them all though! heres a pic to better show the color..but of course id much better and brighter in person! [link]
and of course my big baby..noodle
[link]
[link]
and one of his size...about two three years ago!! and excuse my appearance..was really sick in that picture
[link]
as far as the food snubbing..it was mostly do to trying to change here diet from mice to rats and from live to frozen/thawed..she still snubs at the frozen/thawed though. but just had to keep trying..luckily noodle is a garbage disposal and doesnt mind the leftovers..though having to kill the rats first is not a fun thing to do
are you feeding her live mice?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MeFlyingFree In reply to NWunseen [2012-10-11 04:28:24 +0000 UTC]
No, no live mice. Thawed, frozen newborn mice x 2.
They want me to switch her to newborn rats as soon as possible.
I guess they are more nutritious?
I heard a theory about live versus frozen. do you think if they are fed live food they can be more aggressive?
Thanks for all the links I could have gone looking you know

NWunseen In reply to MeFlyingFree [2012-10-12 03:41:12 +0000 UTC]
good to hear! yep, rats are more nutritous..plus its a pain to switch them from mice to rats for some reason
i think that theyll become more aggressive if fed live..but honestly, as far as ball pythons are concerned..wouldnt worry either way, marty has pretty much only eaten live his entire life and is the most docile out of them all! but none of them are really aggressive in the first place..only when in shed. i had some reticulated pythons for awhile..very aggressive buggers!

I'm glad to hear that. I wasn't too concerned, but my decision
really wasn't all that popular. I have a few in the house that
aren't overly fond of snakes

hehe..really dont think youll have any worries with her..if she's as friendly as i gather from your talk..she's going to be very docile loving snakey
bet theyre still intrigued by it though! yes?

The younger son loves her, the older one is getting used to her and held her once.
My husband on the other hand is quite perturbed
Would rather not have her in the house
