This is just my personal opinion when people do ships like this I see it is just two ponies interacting no they can't be friends they must be a couple because they said hello to each other once or influenced by anime that all old friends must be a couple

Just can't let these things go can you in a way you remind me a bit of a friend of mine once I told her about my ship she tried so hard to kill all the other Starlight Cannon ships that includes the Sunburst X Starlight ship

Starlight put her hoof over Sunbursts’ mouth, smiling at him as she found herself swimming in the aqua blue of his eyes. Aside from her racing heart, Starlight’s world seemed to at once vanish and silence as she closed her eyes and brought her face slowly closer to Sunbursts’. It was just the two of them now, and nothing would keep her from this moment.
Nothing, except for Sunbursts’ glasses tapping against her nose. Starlight’s eyes flew open at this distraction. His glasses had slid down the bridge of his nose as he himself had leaned in to reciprocate. Her own cheeks burning, Starlight giggled, grabbed Sunbursts’ glasses with her telekinesis and threw them behind her, not once taking her eyes off Sunbursts’.
“Now then, where we were?” she purred.
Both shut their eyes and leaned in again. Starlight met Sunbursts’ soft, warm lips and felt a sudden, swirling bliss. She sighed through nose as she savored the moment. She didn’t want to be anywhere else, with anypony else or feel anything else. Rarely had she felt so safe, so happy.
Starlight’s world came back into dizzy coherence after their lips parted with a smack. Nervous flames burned in her cheeks and she wondered what must be going on in Sunbursts’ mind. His face was redder than she’d ever seen it.
“Wow. That, um, that was nice. I mean, really nice. I could go into greater detail, but… how did you like it?”
Starlight gave Sunburst a warm smile as she snuggled up next him. She grabbed Sunbursts’ cloak with her magic and wrapped it around the both of them, then planted another kiss on his lips.
“Does that answer your question?” she asked as she gazed into his eyes. From somewhere underneath the cloak, Sunburst wrapped a foreleg around Starlight, embracing her as they rested their heads on each other’s shoulders.
“It sure does.”
The two shut their eyes, their hearts flying as they silently enjoyed each other’s closeness.
“Sunburst?” Starlight finally spoke.
“Yes?”
Starlight opened her mouth to reply, but choked on the words with a giggle. She took a deep breath to work up her courage and tried again. “As for your earlier question, I do love you.”

My faith in love is so shattered at this point in my life. Heck, Starlight's graduation made me feel more than a certain other couple from a recent episode.
That being said, this is one pairing I can truly get behind. We awkward, geeky, brainy, shy, smaller-framed guys deserve to get the girl once in a while.

You definitely did it justice. Starlight and Sunburst are definitely a cute and caring couple. Sure they kind of known each other when they were a filly and a colt, but it clicks and makes sense. He cares about her even in the roughest of times when Starlight is still unsure of what she wants to do in the future. Sunburst knows what he sees for her. He sees her a brave unicorn mare with a bright future and can overcome evil even when there is the darkest of times.
