As you can probably tell by now, a lot of my artwork is reflective of my current mental state at the time of their creation; it's the spark of creativity & imagination that puts my mind at work, & emotions are a key influencer in how I get my work done. This piece was made last year & I never finished it for some reason, but today gave me the push needed to complete it. In this piece, Monika & Xaltor do some browsing on the Internet & they are not happy with what they've found. Monika is evidently disgusted but tries her best to comfort Xaltor in case he has a emotional outburst, while Xaltor himself is doing his best to restrain his anger. If you're looking for a lore-wise explanation, this is likely how they reacted to some of the people of Xaltor's empire voicing very negative opinions about Monika being his wife instead of his previous partner(s).

But if you want an explanation from me personally, I made this piece to voice my frustrations & utter contempt for the treatment of Monika's character by other people within the DDLC community. Sometimes it's even done by people outside the community. I guess I'm just a little too obsessed with her, but it honestly breaks my heart when I see her portrayed in a negative way (yes, I'm talking to YOU, people who make over-sexualized &/or gross fetish drawings of her; you make me sick & you've wasted your artistic abilities). I believe Monika deserves to be understood & listened to; a character who I firmly believe transcends from being just an archetype & feels as real as you or I. She's not just some plaything to do whatever your twisted mind desires, she deserves to be loved & respected, even if she's made her...mistakes. She's someone I feel a lot of us could learn something from if we would just listen to what she has to say.

Anyway, to put a long story short, I just think people should think twice about the things they post on the Internet. I myself don't really feel the need to complain to strangers online for doing something they didn't even know would affect me personally, but you never know when you might touch the nerve of someone who's not as self-restrained as I am. All I'm saying is, if there was just ONE thing that made someone happy, wouldn't it be a terrible thing if you just went ahead & decided to ruin it for them, unknowingly or not?

If you read from beginning to end, thanks for listening to me vent.
