You know, I reckon you should get into photography I bit more. You have a good eye for shots.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm thinking about getting a decent camera but I'm not sure how serious I want to be with it. I'm pretty annoyed about trying to take a picture of the lamp post outside our house, it's failing and so had this beautiful red glow, but all our cameras suck and screw it up.

Well, to be completely honest, if you want good photos, you want a good camera. Sadly, they ain't cheap. I really recommend a Canon entry-level DSLR, like the 600D or 550D. I have the 600D, but the only difference between to two if a multi-angle LCD screen, however I have found it to be a really useful addition.
I got mine with a 18-55mm kit lens for 600D. My Mum already had a portrait lens (the Canon 50mm F 1.8 - Amazing!) and a zoom lens (18-135mm), so I didn't need to make any more purchases.
I know this is all very in-depth, but if you wanna get into photography or filmmaking on a more serious scale, I can't make a better suggestion. Money is the only draw-back.
