So you'r setting up a studio with many lights to make the car looks real?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

megatama In reply to J-Century [2011-10-11 04:10:21 +0000 UTC]

Yes, for this scene I use 8 (vray) light with various type (plane, doom, sphere). Some light shot direct to the object and some shot to the studio wall to reflect the light and you'll get soft light and soft shadow.

VRay light is heavy, only high end computer can support it, I tried lastnight, damned my pc was too slow and it hang ><

How come??? with your hardware spec should be no problem to handle, your PC is way much better than mine
Maybe you set the 'subdiv' too high

Nice improvements! Especially on the wheels, tires and scene balance. It is looking a bit dull now though, this is fine though because you can easily fix it in photoshop with a levels adjustment. Just lift the white up to give the image a snappier contrast... I did a quick test myself with your image and imo it just needs that final touch...

tires needs more glossy reflections,
all your image lacks of contrast in the shadows, especially the carbon parts ( they are too gray, must be more black)
Rims needs more speculars and a darker diffuse color ( they are gun metal )

the body shader is too flat, give it some density ( dark red, high red )
despite all of this, the lighting is perfect.

loose the background light it doesn't fit and isn't logical with the floor you made. What you can do is get some reflections on it, because you have a nice angle here

keep it up, it's near perfection but not yet

Nice image! I like it overall - nice clean modeling... but there are small things that if you fixed could make a huge difference. The car itself seems washed out. You need to crush the levels a bit to match the blacks of the bgd. This would make the red and carbon fiber overall a bit darker which imo would balance it against the bgd. The wheels also need a stronger reflection contrast (try making the diffuse a lil darker and pushing the reflected colour up.)

You say that you aren't satisfied with the tires, make them a lil darker and again pushing the reflected colour up. Also put more detail in them - Things like the beveled/embossed ring that separates the sidewall from the tread. As it is now they flow seemlesly into each other, same thing where the tire meets the rim...

Wow.. that the longest comment I ever get ^^
Yes you right, it's hard go get perfect result. My attempt is to make a bright red color, and I get some thing like that. I know that not good enough. I'm trying a different setting material from my last model (EVO X) and look like not working good enough.

For the tire yes there need more reflection, I was make enough detail on it like you say, maybe because the lighting setting that make the detail not visible.

Thanks very much , that what I need to make a better pic
