And I wanted to experiment with the anime colour pallet.
Yes, there is an anime of Les Misérables, that I really like: Shoujo Cosette

So, yeah, I just fooled around with the colour pallet... thanks to my friend Sarn-Elyren for giving me some tips... dunno how well, I executed them, but I tried

In this, it's kind of a combination of a few things: Valjean and Cosette are evading Javert and his troupes; they just want a peaceful place to stay-- is that so wrong?? Throughout the book it describes all these close calls and how, even though it's the dead of night, it's hard to stay in shadows because the moon is out in full and all the stars are lighting the sky; so, there's no way Valjean feels fully hidden... and though he keeps his cool relatively well, there were a few times where trembled or quivered or, as shown here, held his breath... this is where artistic liberity is taken on my part
He doesn't hold his and breath and "gently held his hand to Cosette's mouth" until after there were no police in sight; he could hear them, but they were already over the Convent wall by that point... it was just paranoia on Valjean's part...
For me, if it happened in a movie, it'd be intense af if, amid them running around, turning into all these narrow alleyways, almost making out a-okay... they turn a corner and Javert would be right... frigging... there... THAT'D be a point where you would freeze, head to foot, hold your breath, lest they'd hear you; that feeling of, if he turns his head, even a little bit, we are DONE FOR!

That was the panic I wanted to recapture

Also, I've been fooling around with/experimenting cell shading... I... think I'm getting better?
All the same, I'm SUPER happy with this!

also, note that Valjean isn't completely covering Cosette's mouth; the book made it clear he was gentle/careful... considering his hand is bigger than her face
