I was introduced to Slenderman by one EmeraldMouse at a halloween party she hosted. a tall, lanky male figure who is always dressed in a business suit and often appears in pictures of children days before they disappear. truly a shining example of how folklore is always evolving, he is our generation-specific, technology savvy, sharp-dressed boogey man. stealing away with children in the shadows, and only whispers of them ever reach the ears of the living again.

in his purest form, he prays specifically on children, his face is always unseen or simply whited out. sometimes he has tendrils sprouting from his back or elongated fingers. sometimes there are fragments of stories of him coercing kidnapped children to perform horrific acts upon one another. and (this is crucial to the original form) he is completely silent at all times. sometimes you have done something to encur the wrath of slenderman... other times he just decides today is a good day for you to stop existing.

and as with any urban legend, everyone has different extra attributes to add to him. from his supposed habit of cutting people open (old and young), removing their organs, storing them in a clear plastic bag, then placing the bag in the chest cavity, and impaling the body on the brances of trees like a thanksgiving turkey on a spit, to his new (and rarely told) talent of walking his elongated fingertips like a creepy ass spider. also, in a semi-entertaining series of youtube videos called "marble hornets" he is associated with the symbol of an x-ed out oval.

but beyong having endless interesting applications in the study of modern anthropology, he's damn fun to draw. simple enough: a scary stick figure, now go have fun!

so here he is, the tendril & whiteface variety, offering a polite gesture to the unfortunate surviving parent of some unfortunate child.
