Description I started this picture sometime before April this year. (I procrastinated quite a bit since then.) But I finally finished today! So I'm really happy.

I love the series, and with this drawing I wanted to show 16 year old Katniss, during the Games, and the people she equates with innocence:

Peeta, and behind him the scene where he threw Katniss the burnt bread. Saving her, and her family's lives.

Prim, and their cabin with their parents' wedding photo. A reminder of home. And the old life she lost.

And Rue, like she's looking from the top of a tree at the mockingjays flying in the sky. Because she told Katniss how she used to climb the top of trees in the orchards of District 11.

Behind Katniss, is flames (since she's the Girl on Fire) and glass shattering like her emotional state. All the while she's holding on to the few good things she has left.

Anyhow, I put a lot of thought into this. And I hope you enjoy!

Hope you have a wonderful day!
God Bless!

Terrific work! I must say, I feel you gave the characters, Katniss especially, a very human look to them that I don't think I've even seen in the movies. I can look at these characters and tell they're real people in the sense that they've had hardships; they've loved and lost and yet still keep fighting.

This is an EXCEPTIONAL piece to me, it's going in my Surreal and Beautiful folder!

Thank you so much! I really wanted to convey the humanity and the innocence, Katniss isn't just the Girl on Fire, Peeta is so much more than a Star-crossed Lover. All of them are more than just tributes, they're human. And I think, even in real life, we like to put people on pedestals and don't see each other at the simplest and deepest level: who we really are.

Aye. I found the books to beautifully express that sentiment (albeit in a somewhat darker tone).

Although those capital people REALLY needed Jesus! Tho I think the Holy Texts may have been lost in whatever disaster engulfed that world. And I highly doubt President Snow would have allowed such a powerful unifier of hope to grow in the Districts. I don't think ANY sort of religion was mentioned in the trilogy.

I've always thought the same thing. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Hope is powerful, but hope in God, unstoppable. They would never have allowed such a thing.

You have officially made this my favorite Hunger Games discussion. Thanks!

Speaking of Religion in dystopian futures, I'm posting a Journal entry soon that'll be an open discussion that I'd love to hear your thoughts on. 😊

I think what is most effective are the tears running down her cheeks.  It sounds much like what my wife lost when her parents were killed about twelve years ago and had to flee for her life to another country.

It must have been so terrible for her... What country was your wife from? If you don't mind me asking.

She's from Liberia and had to flee to Senegal:  about 700 miles to the Northwest.  Unfortunately, she's still there and have been trying to get her here.  She almost made it in July but was falsely arrested at the airport before boarding the plane to come.  The one week detention and the trial are over, but the trauma has not passed by.  Just pray the Lord will open a door to get her here.  The flight alone is about $1500.  And there's a $1000 travel expense requirement at the airport for natives of West Africa.  They have to show that they have at least $1000 for travel expense before they are allowed to go on the plane or through the gate.  Right now she has neither, and I don't have the funds anymore.

I'll definitely be praying for her, I really hope the situation is resolved soon.
I didn't even know it was like that over there, but I'm glad I do now.
Still, I have faith that one way or another, God will find a way to bring her here.
And when He does, that she'll find the love and healing she needs. Truly,
you both are in my prayers.

Thank you very much for commenting, and for the fave as well!
God Bless!
