It actually depends a little as what program You use.
As for Photoshop- when you save image as PNG, then you can select whether you want bg to be transparent ( it will look like there's no bg ) or white.
As for SAI, sometimes it's just enough to save file as PNG, and it's transparent. Before that I usually colour all the bg in random colour and erase it with "Eraser" tool, I have a feeling it makes the file picture's bg transparent.

One question: Since the largest pen size is 500, how can we make it bigger without scaling it? I have difficulty drawing perfect circles. Sorry for bothering you.

You can draw a small circle, then select it all,
and transform! c: You can make it bigger or smaller that way! xD
Sorry if I wasn't clear... I will maybe do a tutorial about that one day c:

Won't it make it a bit blurry(?) around the edges?
Not to worry. You were clear enough. I just wanted to know how to make a large enough circle.

Okay, so I'm a pretty avid SAI user...but I've pretty much just taught myself how to use it. Unfortunately I never learned how to add an actual finished picture to the current thing I (would be) working on. How do you do that?
And thank you for making such a wonderful tutorial

This was very helpful (I should download SAI trial and use this - u - ) has finer grammar and spelling than other FLUENT English speakers and writers that were born in the US who type in English. o-o"
