Much behind behind the message. Animals won't ever judge their keepers after how they look like - they love their keeper for being an individual who takes care of them.

pardon me, but where's the point in this picture? I can't see it. So anyone who don't see a point in something where others do, is supposed to be an idiot?
A good example of "tolerance" I suppose.

If you'd sit back for a few seconds and look beyond her ass you might just see it. Hell, don't even look at the picture. Just refer to the title or the description. It's right there in front of you!
To miss the point here when it's been spelled out for you is just pure idiocy, plain and simple. I never claimed to be tolerant anyway.

oh, now i see. some white parasite (mouse in this case) could be the only friend, for, lets be honest, ugly-assed ummm, woman (??), right? well the idea behind the picture might be good, maybe, but the title itself - not much to say about it. to my opinion, picture is the most important here, cause one can think of many more situations were this title would be great too. description? Ive already forgot what it says. but I still remember whats in picture without looking at it anymore. so what do you think is more important and what is to be refered to when commenting?
P.S. calling people with different point of view idiots is idiocy indeed I think.

beauty has been, is and will always be a point of view and matter of taste
pointing finger and judging has been, is and always will be a matter of ignorance

tvadakia In reply to Nia777 [2007-07-19 03:02:26 +0000 UTC]
And is it ignorance to point that finger and judge in a positive light? Don't get me wrong, I had a veritable cornucopia of feelings and thoughts and soul-searching when I saw this photograph. Many things came to mind, some sad, some fearful of my own judgments that created the sadness, some angry, some even rudely humorous.
We're all set to trounce on any judgments of others when they lean towards the ill, but disregard any honest opinions, even if not adjudicated. But we still judge, the whole lot of us, when we give out praises, our opinions, our "positive" judgments.
They're still judgments. Are they still a matter of ignorance?

thanks for saying this. I'm getting tired of everyone attacking anyone that comments with something negative. Art invokes feelings and sometimes they are not "OMG THIS AWESOME U ROX!!@!!1".

you did not judge the feeling.. u judged the physical condition(if i may express myself like this) of someone part of the idea... ur comment actually had nothing to do with the work... and in a very funny way goes so well with the whole idea of the photo, actually the whole serie

tvadakia In reply to Nia777 [2007-07-19 16:08:22 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I did, you're right, and it was the point of my concern.
As far as the feeling of the piece, the actual work itself... I can only guess at the symbolism, I can only hand our amateur thoughts on the technical standpoint of the photograph...
In the end, my first reaction (I'm guess you've read my reaction on the second - or third now - page of this deviation) was the truest in that it invoked an internal struggle based on exactly what you had said. If I may be so bold as to say: that is what the whole purpose of art is in the first place. This artist expressed something - his own symbolism, his own feeling, his own view - and I, the viewer, truly got something out of it.
I did judge her physique, and I did take into account the "feel" of the piece... I'd almost say that that what I verbally depicted as my internalization with how I related the piece, her physique, myself, and the broad rudimentary nature of judgments is exactly what the piece is about.

You should read my comment that I left on the second page. There may be something you might understand in it.
I wasn't totally supporting you, so you know. I just have a hard time with people criticizing "judgments" in general when they, themselves, hand out judgments every day.
We're all chock full of opinions, and they often differ. I DO believe we should evaluate our most public opinions before we state them. The truth in what we believe (feel) may change once we view it from all angles. To speak out "rude truth" as Ralph Waldo Emerson writes we should do, we must follow the truth publicly as it changes within us so that people may understand the whole.
Time for bed.

What...? But it's true, you shouldn't just go around bashing everything you don't like. If you don't like it, just walk away from it instead of being a jerk about it, or say you don't like it in a less-harsh manner.

Blackreaper18 In reply to Nojo-on-the-rojo [2007-07-24 18:22:42 +0000 UTC]
I think that I have a right to comment ANY picture WHATEVER I want to, just as you or anyone else. It's not your problem if it's negative or positive or whatever. btw, I didn't say any single bad word about the author, I just said that I don't like his picture and nothing more.
Oh and, name AT LEAST one reason why someone should ONLY comment those pictures they like, cause I don't get it.
p.s. that was the least-harsh manner of saying what I think. If it's too harsh for anyone, it's only a point of view lol.

I love it. I never see any photographers taking shots like this.
The lighting is wonderful, just the whole tone of this photo speaks to me. And the mouse or hampster is an endearing touch.
Very captivating and moving. KUDOS.
