Description
blender rules! The goal with this project was to work on modeling, lighting, materials, and blender's fluids system. I started out by tracing the blender logo by setting it as the background image. After tracing and giving it some depth, I toyed around with the material settings. Then I placed some lights in the scene. Some area's in the blue circle/cylinder as well as some lamps around the scene. Initially I wanted to have the water fill up the clear orange shape; however, I could not get the fluid to go into it. After tinkering around with the fluid for some time, I ended up settling with what you see now.

How much tinkering did you do with the fluid domain settings. I love the texture of the water but I think it looks more like honey. Watch this tutorial if you are interested in changing that:

Amazing. I'm working with Blender right now but I'm not too good. Unfortunately I'm self taught using a small tutorial so I can only do the basics. I'm really hoping to get better at it. How long where you using the program before you could make something like this?

Really good, 'd!
I dunno if you've tried (probably have, and I'm being a goon), but you might find it easier to fill the shape up if you raise the resolution and/or the domain size.
Still a great render!

What is the fluid quality on this one? If you turn it up to 75 or 80, smaller-scale calculations could maybe allow it to flow into the object, or have smaller drops. Still really cool!

he's right...
Really cool, but the water looks like glass--i don't know if you were aiming for this, but I think it would look better without the fluid quality turned up...
