Another attempt at a real bg, I used referance this time, so I think it turned out much more acurate.Originally I had a whole different idea for it, but it changed as I went on. Personally I have quite a few beefs with it hahaa, but all in all I think it turned out not to bad.
I really love the character design for Kimimaro, though I do not know much about him. I was told he grew up sick, and manipulates bones to fight with. Ialso grew up sick, always in the hospital or in bed. So I understand the character.
You all will be seeing more fanart of him soon hahaha. I think I may do the original plan for this picture.
If you download this picture *the arrow under the picture* you will see the deep blue version. I actually liked the deep blue version more, it went with the mood of the picture.

The background is just... amazing. The snow on the leaves, the tree trunks, the light rays... the snow itself are all so incredible!

My favorite artist is Luis Royo. While I love what he used to do (he's turned very gothic and ... piercing? related) with women, I love his use of light and shadow... it does thing for the subjects and overall picture that just fascinate me.
The point of this ramble? To say that this picture and the light effects through the background remind me strongly of his use of light. You did such a grand job with this one, it just makes me want to sit and stare at the picture awhile. I don't really know anything about the character himself, and hence probably couldn't offer anything on the style.
Yet I will note that if the wind/breeze is strong enough to play with his shirt, wouldn't it also be doing something to his long hair?
That is the only critique I could honestly offer. Everything else really works nicely for this picture.

YEAHHH AHHHHH! I know....the stupid hair...you see..I worked downward. I did the hair first, then added the outfit...Soooooo thats the result. I was trying to think about all the shadows and light....that I overlooked the obvious. whaaaa.
Aw well you live ya learn right? lol. I think I may do some more snowy scenes, the weather outside is making me appreciate the beauty and clarity of snow again.

I love the detail in the background..the trees and snow make an excellent mood. His pose and colors are very nicely done too. I think his forehead seems slightly small, and his eyes just a bit far apart.

Great work. Smooth, soft, and wholely inviting to the viewer. That coupled with your already near perfect style and we have a sure winner. If I had to crituque one thing, the only possible thing that i could come up with is that your subject look slightly less soft (if not a bit more tangible) than the background. Its not greatly noticable, and it dosent detract fro mthi image much, but you just kinda notice it if you stare at it long enough. Again, great work!

I always seem to make eveything to soft, its crazy. I try for rough and solid, but i get whip cream haha. I think the whole picture would have looked better rougher, clearer maybe. But it's not within my abilities yet. I'm slowly getting rougher...I hope hahaa.

Actually, I think your drawings have a great rough quality in the line art that I greatly admire. That coupled with your usual smooth coloured pencil techniques is awesome. The dital stuff here has some of the same roughness, but its kinda outwighed by the dreamlike look of it all. It looks great that way too though.
