Description Here's my latest Graphic Novel Class Project. We had to draw a clear narrative 9-panel comic page on a grid structure. It was really difficult to come up with something that seemed fairly self-contained and this one was a pretty tight squeeze. :/ I had to leave it little more unrefined in places than I'd wanted to so I could get it turned in early because my power was threatening to go out (and did) for several infuriating days because of the storm hitting the east coast last week. DX

The punchline at the end of this is in no way an obvious reference to my favorite story, by the way.

I think you guys will like the class project I'm working on now. We have to do an adaptation of sorts and the script I picked is from something I already know at least some of you like.

(It's unfortunately not Faust, before anyone asks, though I wish I could've chosen it)

This is gorgeus! But i have to ask, and please don't be o harsh on my ignorance, what is it with the ending? It is a reference to something....and it looks familiar...but i have no clue. Something like The crow or The mothman profecies, or just a rference to a demon? Help me, I'm clueless!

Thank you! If you specifically mean the appearance of the silhouette at the end, it wasn't meant to look like anything in particular, but I'm sure I've seen stuff like it before. Couldn't tell you where exactly.  The punchline of the guy's friend secretly being a demon or some such thing, unbeknownst to him in this case,  is a loose Faust reference, though.

Wow! This has been put together superbly! You've done an absolutely great job with this~ I really love the characters and the storyline works really well. I especially love the way you've shown all the emotion through their poses and expression. I love it!~

Thank you so much~ It was really difficult to squeeze the whole thing in. I could have probably carried on with it for several pages if I'd had the space. xD

Haha maybe you could do another one in your free-time?
You did a great job with it like this though!

I'll just pretend it's Faust to make me feel better.
Anyways, great job~! I never really liked grid-based comics, since it is rather a confusing read, but they always seem to flow just right...

I know, it's sad... xD I'm thinking I may actually do a scene from it for my graduate project if possible. I think we have to do some sort of short comic project, so what better?

I've always way favored free from comics over grid-based too, but sometimes grid comics just make for great emotional impact. I think it's something about the regularity of the panels that gives the scene more gravity.

Do it. D:
Kinda like how I manage to sneak in something "Sandman" related in every freakin' project I do.

Yeah, there's something nice about grid comics. A bit confusing at first. Sometimes I just read them up and down, or right to left (if they are American) just for fun. XD
