From an opulent body of passionate work celebrating female form with focused grace, the two face shots of Melissa Ann (melannc), Still, and Realized, taken as a set, deserve special mention and praise. In these simple and powerful photographs by Tommy Edwards, she gives us honesty, intensity and humanity in equal measure. Excellent color composition, contrast, the chaotic lines of hair, the moist texture, all come together to accentuate an ineffable truth that she can only share with us from deep within. These images would be at home in any fine museum. They serve to remind us that, when treated with the greatest care, there is no greater subject for human art than a human face. In any great portrait, there will be something greater, just behind what we can see. Taken in sequence, eyes down, and then penetratingly forward, delivers a final jolt of energy, leaving us breathless.
While I would not bother to critique any work I felt deserved an average of less than 3 stars, and I prefer to critique works I will rate highly, I would never lightly hand out a perfect score. In fact, I will only do so for works that, in my opinion, transcend categorized ratings. Today I will give out two perfect scores. That is unlikely to ever happen again. And I should note, that for me, these two must be taken as a single work to achieve transcendence.

Yes, I've worked with a few inexperienced photographers who have sent me thousands of images to pick through. I simply haven't had the time to go through all of them, but hopefully soon. I'll be in LA for a couple shoots at the end of the month, so hopefully I'll have a bunch of new stuff to post in early April.

I also admire because you take time to reply almost for everyone.

Something about this image says "Album Cover".
Can't put my finger on why.

Lovely as always. A moment of honest expression. I think this is what I enjoy about still photography so much, to capture just a single moment in time.

MelissaAnn Your work is some of the best I have seen in years... And beleave me I have see a lot in all my years. And the photographers are quite good as well ... But there work is only as good as the models they work with. If your ever in the Dayton Ohio area and would like to shoot let me know. We have a wonderful warehouse we shoot in. Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much, and yes, much credit belongs to the talented photographers.
I model more for art/enjoyment than money, so I try to only work with the best.

I always look forward to my melannc deviantWatch messages. Maybe it's partially because of your friendliness on DA, but images like this convey serious vulnerability and authenticity. It doesn't feel like you're posing, but that you're opening yourself up to the camera, and to us. That's what I get from your eyes here, anyway.
