Very well done with this piece, one of my favorite animated shorts!
Love how you painted it with some real charm, enough to look like it was from the original short!

You are so very welcome.
Also watched Tale of Tales (by the same man who did Hedgehog) last night, it's really amazing.

Yes, I remember that short movie also! The wolf was so cute. And it's has the same unforgettable atmosphere of Yuriy Norshteyn's significant style.
It's great that you appreciate his works

Awesome to hear you've seen Tale of Tales as well, and gotta agree with you as well.
I also love that wolf, too.
I still have yet to explore more of Norshteyn's works, since Hedgehog In the Fog & Tale of Tales were my first two I've seen by him so far. But his style is very excellent, like he has that picture book storytelling feel too.

I watched quite a few, my favorites are Cinderella (1979), The Little Mermaid (1968), The Snow Queen (1957) and The Wild Swans (1962).
I also remember this one Beauty and the Beast russian animated version which was done mostly with using the rotoscoping tecnique called "The Scarlet Flower" (1952), it's quite nice even though it's not one of my favorites haha.
Have you seen any of those films?

Your list is really great and also your knowledge of the technique
I've seen everything but don't remember The Wild Swans well. The rest of the list connected with child memories as well, especially I liked The Little Mermaid and cried every time watching it, hehe.
And the Beast from last one - everybody feared it because of his strange look But also felt very pity for him.
It's pleasant to remember all of these.

OH MY! The Hedgehog in the Fog is my childhood. I love it so much! I remember when I was so young that couldn't read the subtitles and I had no idea what they were saying in this, but I didn't need to know, because the music and the mystical fairy language that I didn't understand was so beautiful and enchanting and captivating... Even to this day, when I hear that music cold shivers of wonder creep down my spine. This movie influenced me a lot when I was a kid. It is still so very dear to me.
Your picture holds the same magic that what the movie has. This is simply beautiful.
