Knock knock. “Maricela!” Knock knock. “Maricela!” Knock knock. “Maricelaaa!”

Maricela looked up from the TV towards the door and raised an eyebrow. That was Yong Soo’s voice, she quickly realised. She hopped up to her feet and answered the door. Before her was the exact person she assumed, looking jittery with excitement. He whipped out a small book from his pocket and presented it to her.

“What’s this?” Maricela asked, tracing a finger on the cover lettering. “It says ‘gift’..?”

“That’s right!” Yong Soo beamed, wasting no time to wrap an arm around her shoulders and flip the book open. “It’s another gift for you, da-ze! For your birthday!”

“My birthday was months ago,” Maricela pointed out. “Another present, really?”

“Looook!” Yong Soo insisted, jabbing his finger at the first page. Maricela peered closely to find… ah. Vouchers. Handmade vouchers. That was definitely Yong Soo’s writing. She giggled a little when she saw the different things she could do an exchange for. A free DVD of K-Dramas… A free Korean Barbeque… free Kimchi… “Do you see now? I meant to give it to you sooner, but I wanted to make sure I had a voucher for everything!”

“Everything?” Maricela flipped through the book and – oh. Yeah, he meant what he said. Her cheeks darkened as she flicked back to the front of the book. “I-I see… Well, um… thank you, Yong Soo… It’s very sweet of you.”

Yong Soo drew his arm away and stood proud. “Great, isn’t it? And I can make you a new book when you’ve used up all the vouchers there!”

Maricela decided to take another glance through the book, picking out the different vouchers. “Hm… let’s get started.” She tore out one of the vouchers and handed it to him. He glanced at it and his cheeks flushed pink. His expression was definitely pleased though.

“One free hug coming right up!” And with that announcement, he swept her into his arms, holding her close.
