Kits weren't part of the plan. Sure they'd enjoyed being with Hawkbelly, but kits? That was too far, too soon after the last incident that left their clanmates doubting them and sending glares their way. The clan needed a medicine cat, but they'd started only coming in for treatment as a last resort.
Why shouldn't Laurelsprout have kits? Why couldn't they have it all?
Why, these kits were a blessing. Special. Sent from Starclan themselves. They'd grow up to be heroes. Laurel would reassure them of that, regardless of how queens pulled their own kits away from playing with the new social outcasts. A sad thing being special was sometimes, you were often lonely. Their clan would get over it eventually.
Hawkbelly seemed uneasy, but Laurelsprout knew he'd love being a father, that he only needed a little reassurance. They would get through this hurdle, they were a family now. And even if all of Hailclan turned their backs on them, they were still important and chosen for greatness.
