I remember the Gems back in the good ol' days (1986-1999). I was a DJ for WJGR-FM "The Jaguar" in Beach City back then. I was active for 13 years. I frequently got Amethyst on the line on those jacktastic Saturday nights. Never got Rose and Garnet, but I sometimes got Pearl. Man, Amethyst loved the tunes that I spun on the decks so much that she wanted to be in my studio, a.k.a. "the Jack Shack". Pearl thought the Jack Shack was too noisy though...

Y'know they're thousands of years old, two or three decades shouldn't lead to such a drastic change. Β My theory is that it represents the way they had to mature emotionally after losing Rose. Β When she was around, they could be as naive and childlike as they wanted because they had someone to keep them safe and steer them in the right direction. Β With her gone, they had to be more like adults, for Earth and for Steven.

Changing the original ideas usually means changing the actual scripts which already sounds like trouble.

A good example of how it worked was Samurai Pizza Cats, they lost the original scripts and had to make up new stories which worked because the original story was taken too seriously, plus it had a hilarious narrator probably the first I heard, the second being Tom Kenny in Powerpuff Girls
