Description
Another drawing I started at work, but finished at home. It's drawn on the back of a cheap piece of graph paper, and the lines showed thru a little so,don't look too closely.Related content

Freud would have a "psychoanalytical orgasm" attempting to analyze this image.
Unique idea.
Nice rendering.
Love how the multiple images / objects which congeal together to create the final "entity".

Good thing for me,he's not around to see it.
Nice rhetoric there. I appreciate it. Makes me feel like I really created something, when in reality,it was just random outfreakage. At least at the onset. Apparently, out of chaos, can come order.
Thanks again

- Yeah ... I am sure that a lot of people are glad that ole Freud is no longer around.
- Freud was such a warped individual who actually derailed progress in the field of psychology / psychiatry with all of his psychoANALytical gobbleygook. Seriously. I think he needed to be the one on the couch instead of the patients he saw. Very much a lecher / sexual deviant with some deep issues.
- Yeah, indeed you did create something quite unique. Whether it be cognizant or unconscious in origin, it IS a piece of art. And it is an extension of yourself. It didn't exist in time until you put pen / pencil / etc. to parchment and gave it a dimension by which it could be discerned and appreciated by both the human eye and mind.
All art is that way. Whether it is written, drawn, played, fashioned, loved, planted, constructed, rebuilt, or even given birth to as in the case of partaking in the creation of life by becoming a parent). ...
Take care,

I'm by no means an expert in the field of psychoanalysis but,I'm inclined
to agree with you. He seems to have had some deeply rooted sexual issues.
I agree. A peek into my psyche,perhaps. I guess that's one thing I like
about surrealism. I may not be able to comprehend,or readily discern the meaning of what comes out but,
I enjoy wondering where it comes from.
I'm sure you know all about these guys but, here's something for you to check out.

Yep.
I agree with you on all counts that you've mentioned.
- Yes, I know of Nivek's side project "ohGr" ... saw him in Atlanta when he first launched the tour in support of his debut album under this moniker. Managed to get him and the rest of the band to sign my Skinny Puppy / ohGr stuff. Was able to meet briefly with him after the gig since I had helped out one of the members on the touring crew with something they needed to accomplish in Atlanta (I wound up driving this person around town to do so), so as an unexpected favour, they brought me backstage to meet him. (Alas, I had already met him earlier in the day and by goodness, had seen him out and about while on the scene up there in Chicago.)
I don't particularly care for the new stuff as it has a really techno-y sound to it ... which sadly, has bled over into SP's current sound. However, as with all things, progression occurs (or it doesn't) when creativity burns within and artist / musician / author's / inventor's heart or mind. So I can see the natural progression of the sound as Nivek branches out from the older SP sound. But in doing so, A LOT of fans have fallen by the wayside. But once again, that is quite natural with the music scene.
Curious about what music you listen to or enjoy. Please give me the names of about ten or so bands that you enjoy so that I can possibly narrow down some sites that may have some bootleg material that pertains to them (of which, you can then download if you so desire).
Take care Robert,

I listened to some of the new stuff. Alot of it has that same edge but,the drums are more of the drum machine type, rather than the samples they used to use. It sounds like more of a gruesome dance music,to me.lol
I don't even know what I listen to,as far as music. I just grab cd's and stick 'em in the changer. The Dragonfly has a 6 cd changer so,I don't have to switch them all that often. Right now,I think I have The Smiths,STP,Suspended Memories,Bachir Attar, something I can't remember...and Hendrix.
Kinda covers the entire gamut of moods,I might be in.lol Don't worry about the links tho'. I don't have alot of time to go thru and look at all that stuff. I appreciate it but,it's about all I can do to reply to comments on da.

That's a pretty eclectic range of music on your CD changer in the Dragonfly.
Never heard of "Suspended Memories" or "Bachir Attar" before.
I remember seeing STP in concert in Atlanta when there could have been no more than 75 people in attendance. So much so that it was a free show. I didn't stay for the whole gig, but found lead vocalist Scott Weiland's antics to be rather amusing.
I do agree with you on your observations regarding Skinny Puppy.
Also, no problem on the .mp3 links and whatnot. No worries.

I seem to find music I like, everywhere. NPR is a really good source for that sort of thing.
There used to be a couple of radio programs on WNUA(soft jazz),Sunday nights. Hearts of Space, and Musical Starstreams.
Alot of "trance" music, and some arabesque type stuff as well. Electronic, and accoustic. Bachir Attar was the head minstrel(if I remember correctly) of The Master Musicians of Joujouka. A group of Moroccan musicians recorded back in'64,by Brian Jones.
Great stuff,if you're into that sort of thing. Suspended Memories is a group I picked up from that show, also.
I saw STP at Northerly Island in Chicago, about 5 years ago. Good show. It was pretty packed that night. Scott Weiland is pretty clever guy. Great lyricist.

NPR does do some interesting music / band introductions from time to time.
However, I stopped listening to NPR awhile ago ... too liberal for me in addition to too much focus on topics that I feel, in essence, have no merit to be focused upon in the first place.
WNUA ... is that a subsidiary of Northwestern University's WNUR 89.9 radio station? I used to listen to WNUR all of the time. Always. Was a great source of music back in the late 80's. I was exposed to a lot of really cutting edge bands via that station (Skinny Puppy among them after hearing for the first time "Assimilate" played on 'NUR).
"Hearts of Space" and "Musical Starstreams" are bands / groups that I've never heard of before. Are they in the vein of Tangerine Dream (which I adore)?
I do dig Arabesque or "Rai" music from time to time. If you do so as well, I strongly recommend an artist by the name of "Rachid Taha". If you ever viewed the movie "Blackhawk Down", one of his tracks was prominently featured on the original soundtrack. Teaser video here: [link]
Bachir Attar and The Master Musicians of Joujouka, I have never heard of before ... though I am a bit intrigued.
- Yeah, Scott Weiland is a character to say the least. I want to say that he is from Indiana as well, or at least his family is ... suposedly strong supporters of Notre Dame as I believe that they are all alumni there (not so sure about Scott though).

I like NPR because you never really know what to expect. I have no "listener's agenda" so,whatever comes on is fine. If I don't like it...I turn it. If I do...I don't turn it. See how easy it is?lol
Nope. NUA has no affiliation with NUR. I remember NUR as well. I heard "Poop Shovel" there, for the first time, back in the mid/late 80's. NUA,is a loose acro' for "New Age". As in "music for a new age." Hearts of Space, and Musical Starstreams, were radio programs, not groups. They did play Tangerine Dream, upon occasion tho'.
"Rai"? I'm unfamiliar. It's not that techno/dance stuff,is it? Coming from you,I doubt it.lol
Do you remember Muslimgauze,by chance? Kinda boring but,it had its uses. I'll check out Rachid Taha. You check this out,ok?

Bachir is cool. Very traditional music. You may not have the ear for it. Sometimes I don't. lol
Scott Weiland should write a book of poetry. I'd be curious to see what he came up with. The rhetoric in his lyrics is very metaphoric, yet the camouflage is easily lifted. I'm unaware of his origin. Many people are from Indiana...me included.

Paper makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it. I am amazed how much difference it makes in the final result and in the enjoyment as I draw. Texture, tooth, color, etc., can make such a difference. I don't think I would have noticed the graphing unless you mentioned it, though. This is an awesome drawing. So metaphoric, and so much style, composition, detail, etc., as usual. You are awesome.

Yes it does. I draw on just about anything tho'. A mistake I make, over and over. The way I see it,at least I'm drawing something.
Yes,the gridlines on the paper. They don't show on the original but,if I scan too dark, they show up in the scan. I've started putting a piece of black construction paper behind those drawings,to scan them. It seems to work.
Lol. Your description makes it sound like more than just random outfreakage. It started out that way but,in time,I discovered I actually had a plan. Even a name.lol
Thank you for the kind words. You flatter me and...give me a stomach ache. Describing my art as awesome,is hard for me to comprehend. I guess I could get used to it tho'.lol

I gave you a stomach ache?
So sorry buddy!
Is that because it is hard to hear praise? Or just hard to figure out what to say back?

Nah,just check the comments. It's all there.lol Praise is fine. Being put on the spot because it makes you uncomfortable, isn't.lol I'm just being a clown. Praise is great to hear,of course. I don't feel I draw well enough to be considered awesome. It freaks me out, somewhat. I suppose I could get used to it tho'. I do appreciate it,as well. Thank you!
