Description
Just another one of those days when ya can't think of a better title for a comic. So here's a first, Robotnik not being an idiot, mostly. This is basically in a way a rant about people that complained about Mecha Sally getting the upgrades from Robotnik and how he "gutted" her. It's obvious that when Sally was roboticized the 2nd time, she was just a robot, no powers, no nothing since that's not how it works. Now some of you fanbrats might say, "Well Robotnik was able to roboticize Sonic and he instantly had power and abilities, merrrrrr" Well that's because that was the Original Robotnik, not the current Robotnik. The Roboticizer was planned to turn the population into robots from the Death Egg MKII's cannon, but then Sally sacrificed herself and was the only one roboticized. No powers, no missiles, nothing. First off Robotnik didn't collect any research or data on her abilities like the Original Robotnik did to Sonic, second, if he managed to roboticize the entire planet and everyone would be equipped with grenades, laser's, and cannons that can make black holes, he would have no use for them. The entire world is his, so what's the point of installing weapons when there's no one to oppose him? It's like giving your kid a baseball bat and he has no interest in playing baseball. Also the power ring as a battery life adds more to how Mecha Sally is limited to her powers and being completely overpowered with no limitations. So pick your poison, have her be roboticized and then upgraded later, or repeat what Issue 19 did in having Sally roboticized and do absolutely nothing but standing around saying, "beep beep I am a robot beep beep I have no powers beep beep."

I honestly thought Amy, Knuckles, and Tails were turned to stone before I read the dialogue

I think recall robotcized Sonic having weapons. There are exceptions. Β The main point Sally being weaponized is that now they have reconsider deroboticizing her because she need to be contained first and even still more difficult Β as usaul maneuvers will not work and will make things worst. Β That was a big point for Eggman and even more because Freedom Fighters are still mentally scared as they remember that.

I can fully understand this point. In fact, I came to the same conclusion by myself: THe World Roboticizer was tuned to make workerbots, not Combat Robians like Mecha Sonic, so Mecha Sally had no weapons.
THe problem comes after this:Β
1) Being a combat RObian doesn't suit Mecha Sally. Sally is, and always has been, a smarter character than she is strong. Her main strength is her mind, and Eggman even waxes poetic about it when he's about to take a blowtorch to her face. Yet Eggman uses this exactly once, the plan is very basic, and only succeeds because the Wolf Pack and Felidae were idiots. SHe also decides that if Elias isn't inside his house, then he isn't anywhere nearby. Basically, her mission to kill her brother would have failed if Elias was in the back yard. Also, he puts a cannon in her brain.
2) Really... external weapons would have been equally effective, as would external armour, rather than putting the weapon inside her, and replacing her skin with armour. Furthermore, internal weapons, at least to the degree that Sally had them, are dangerously impractical, because it leaves her armour riddled with trap doors for weapons to slide out of leaving it a very poor defence.
3) Sally only used her full arsenal once. Aside from that, she relied almost entirely on her blades.Β
4) Despite all the upgrades, Mecha Sally was less threatening than Metal Scourge. Tails beat her in his first battle with her, and she had to rely on Sonic not doing his job to goad Tails into letting her escape. Amy also lasted reasonably well against her.
5) THe same use of logic to justify her being unarmed can work against the upgrade: Logically, the amount of weapons, mechanisms to support weapons (Cooling fans, hinges, motors, etc), armour, engines, etc, would make her overly heavy and cumbersome, which could explain why point 4 is a problem.
6) Bringing back Roboticization in the first place was impractical. Legionizing makes more effective soldiers, is more permanent, and, notably, workers that it makes can't survive an explosion, meaning that the resistance would need to evacuate a factory /ship before they could destroy it.Β
7) The Power Ring Matrix was a bad idea: Power Rings aren't in ready supply anymore... which was Eggman's doing. Nicole can't make them, because she's been exiled... which was done by someone Eggman was secretly working with. Eggman knows that Power Rings burn up within a few minutes of use, and also knows that they are typically used to reverse mind control. He also only has one. Unless Eggman now has the ability to shit power rings (Which, considering how overpowered he is in Flynn's run, wouldn't be a surprise), then his new wonder weapon is going to be out of action permanently in a week. Now, a limited core would still be useful: Maybe the upgrades overtax her core, and she temporarily goes offline if she fights for too long. Maybe she overheats. But having her battery be an incredibly rare an short-lived object that Eggman himself does not fully understand... nope.
Still, the points you make here do justify it...in-universe. What it doesn't justify is Flynn doing it. Also, Mecha Sally initially appeared in StH #29, not 19. And she didn't just stand around doing nothing. SHe captured the entire team, and was seconds away from roboticizing them all, when she started to resist and Dulcy dropped the deroboticizer on her.

Yes, because the original Robotnik gathered research and data on his skills and abilities, and upgraded them when Sonic was roboticized, something that the current Robotnik did not.
