I've started making collages for my art recently (none are uploaded in my gallery yet, unfortunately, since I haven't had time to take photos), and this technique fascinates me as well. One day I'll get Photoshop and learn...

Oh - I encourage you to fool around with photoshop, you'll get the hang of it! I taught myself photoshop and illustrator (Adobe) and was so daunted at first but it's not overly tecnhical and the learning curve is not as steep as I expected it to be. Most times its too hot for me to sit in my stuido and create art there so I create stuff digitally on my pc, stitching things from my own photographs and cutting bits and blending bits - like I would in the physical world when doing a collage - only I use no glue and its not messy Just read a bit online about the basics - like using layers and layer blending options - and it'll snowball.
