“This is boring.” Jane tapped the holster of her pistol, staring out across the dimly lit hall of the Lakeside City museum.
“What did you expect?” said her companion, a pretty brunette with a long ponytail. “Security is a boring job.”
Jane sniffed but didn’t answer.
The two young women stood in the middle of the long, pillared exhibition hall of the Lakeside Museum of History. They were both dressed in the standard corporate security outfits of Carter Security: black boots, a black mini-skirt with a white belt, a black halter-top with white fringes that left their arms and midriff bare, and a black peaked cap. It was a revealing outfit, to be sure, but many of Carter Security’s employers preferred the all-female security force to provide revealing uniforms. Each of the attractive girls was also armed with a flashlight and a handgun.
“I just wish something would happen,” Jane said miserably. She pushed back her long strawberry-
