Description A render for 's  Catch and Release - Part 6The second time heading to the island is much easier than the first. I know the route this time around, and the journey isn’t nearly as mysterious or uncertain.I still keep my wits about me, of course. The moment I let my guard down could well be my last.As I step off the beach and into the muggy shade of the jungle, however, I can feel my heart start to beat a little faster. I have the strange, overwhelming animal instinct flood my veins once again. Before I know it I’m moving through the undergrowth and tree-trunks as if I’ve lived here all my life. It’s almost like I’m another person. I feel strangely alive, a predator in search of prey. The island is doing something to me. My rational brain knows it, but the primeval part of me that’s free and is in control doesn’t care. I feel good. I also feel powerful and confident, more than I’ve ever felt in my life. Every step I take is perfectly placed. I pass through tangles of vines and tropical flowers without making a sound or making a single leaf rustle. I am invisible, a shadow flitting through the jungle. I didn’t believe in magic before I stepped foot on Myrina. Now I do.Of course, I believe in technology too. That’s why, along with the near-useless blow pipe, I have Veronica’s sleek black dart gun packed in my satchel this time around. I snatched it out of the drawer back on the ship when Veronica’s back was turned. Right now I feel like I could single-handedly take out a dozen jungle girls at once. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like to be prepared. I cut through the jungle along the beach, then move up by the creek where I caught Rima the day before. I come across one patrol of Hidden Ash women, but I duck out of sight until they pass by. While my adrenaline-crazed mind feels like it wants to attack, the rational side of my brain manages to assert itself long enough to hold myself back. Even with a dart gun I can’t take down half a dozen armed female warriors at the same time.I move along the creek, up past the waterfalls and bathing pools. This time they are strangely empty. I suppose after Rima’s disappearance yesterday the women of the Hidden Ash Tribe are being a bit more cautious. I stop to get my bearings. By now it is early afternoon, and I have nothing yet to show for my hunt. Veronica made it clear that I am only allowed to take one woman from each tribe, and that I cannot keep her for more than one day. The women of the Hidden Ash Tribe, as fetching as they might be, are off-limits to me now. The tribe just to the west, in the swampy lowlands, are the Bitter Arrows. While going into a swamp has little appeal for me, the Bitter Arrows seem like a good hunting opportunity. With luck they aren’t forewarned of my approach like the Hidden Ash are, and it might be easier to catch some of their women by surprise and in smaller groups.I turn west.Just as I expected, the ground becomes more soggy, murky and unstable. A slow stink of rotting vegetation fills the air. The hum of insects, always constant in the jungle, becomes a constant drone of angry mosquitoes and biting flies. It become more and more difficult to find paths that are solid enough to take me through the lily-infested mires. All this, and no sign of any women yet, or at least none that I can take. Despite last night’s fun I feel an animal craving growing inside me, a hunger that gets harder and harder to control. I want a soft, curved woman in my arms. I want to feel her warm skin pressed against mine, I want to push her down on the ground and—I shake my head, trying to chase away my lust-filled thoughts. This island is driving me half-mad. The worst part is, I think I like it.I hear a noise. It’s faint at first, but as I stop and crane to hear over the sounds of distant waterfalls, twittering birds and buzzing insects, I can make out the distinctive high-pitched notes of talking. Voices. Women’s voices.I move through the jungle and swampy lowland, keeping low and out of sight. I feel a heat already rising in me, a predatory hunger that is near insatiable. It’s hard to think of anything else. Without even consciously thinking of it I pull the dart gun out of my satchel.I slide quietly over a fallen tree trunk and see a surprising but welcome sight. Two women are in front of me in a small clearing. Both wear skimpy leather loincloths and tops, like primitive bikinis. Each girl has face paint in the shape of a leaf over their eyes. Both are barefoot, and like all the women on this island are delightfully fetching. They are toned, shapely, with lush hips and full breasts…every girl on this island seems to be like a goddess. These two are no exception. They have their backs to me, and neither have noticed me. That’s no surprise, for they have other matters to concern them. The first girl, an athletic, lusciously-shaped woman with large, bell-shaped breasts, has straight, chestnut brown hair that falls to her shoulders. She is caught face-first in a massive spider web. Despite her struggles, it is obvious that she is caught fast. Her companion, a taller, thinner woman with short black hair and round breasts, hacks away furiously but also cautiously at the sticky strands with a dagger. Two baskets filled with mushrooms and berries lie on the ground beside them, as well as two dropped bows and quivers of arrows. “Hold still, Lorna,” the black-haired girl says in exasperation. “You’re only making it worse.”“Just get me out of this,” Lorna says, trying to crane her face to look over her shoulder. “Cut that strand there. By my arm.”“I don’t want to get stuck myself,” the black-haired girl sighs. “Give me a moment and I’ll—” She stops, then whirls around. In my eagerness I realize I have been creeping closer and closer to the two Bitter Arrow Warriors. I’m no longer in hiding, and I’m out in the open like a fool. The black-haired girl’s eyes widen and her mouth drops open. She dives for the bow on the ground.Without even thinking I lift the dart gun and pull the trigger. There is a sharp pfft. The black-haired girl falls to her knees, one limp hand on her bow. She stares at me for a moment in stupid confusion, the powerful tranquilizer dart sticking into her shoulder. Then, without even a sigh or grunt, she slumps heavily to the ground.“Neeli?” Lorna twists in the web, catching a glimpse of her fallen friend. “Neeli, are you okay?”“Don’t worry, she’s just taking a nice long nap,” I say. I walk towards the trapped girl, reloading the dart gun as I go. “It’s your turn next.”Lorna turns her head behind her, shaking the whole web she’s in. “A man,” she hisses. “You are not allowed here. It is forbidden.”“Trust me,” I say, “neither of you will even remember I was here.” I roll Neeli over onto her back with my foot. She is totally out. Not a bad catch, if I do say so myself.“You’re going to take her?” Lorna spits. “You monster. And what about me?”“You seem to be a little stuck at the moment,” I say with a grin. “Don’t worry though, I have a dart here with your name on it.”“If you leave me here, I’ll die,” Lorna says. Her vibrant green eyes are transfixed on me. “No one knows where to look for me. I’m trapped.”“Sorry,” I say with a shrug. I roll Neeli over on her stomach and flop her arms onto her back. “I’m only allowed to take one of you.”“You are such a coward,” Lorna rages. Her eyes flash angrily as she cranes back to glare at me. “And weak. You can not beat a warrior of Myrina in fair combat. Instead you resort to skulking in shadows and striking with poison.”I hesitate, a leather cord in my hand ready to tie Neeli’s wrists. I look up at the trapped brunette. “You don’t think I could take you?”“I know you can’t,” Lorna says with a smug grin. “You are afraid to even try.”She’s baiting me. I am well aware of it, and the rational part of my brain tells me to just take Neeli and go while I still can. But the animal part of me, the one that is so awake and alive here on this island, feels a rising sense of anger and…And, well, desire. Not for the unconscious girl on the ground before me, but for the fiery brunette trapped in the web.I rise slowly to my feet, then step right up behind Lorna, pushing my body against hers. I can feel her tremble slightly, but whether it is fear or something else I can’t tell. “Careful,” Lorna says with a smirk. “You might get stuck.”“I could take you right here, just like this, you know,” I say. Considering my current state of arousal, I have no doubt that Lorna is quite aware of this as well. “You could,” Lorna agrees in a quiet voice. “And you would only prove yourself a coward.”My hand clenches around the handle of the dart gun. This is stupid. I should just knock this girl out, grab Neeli and head back for the ship. But I have to admit, my honor is pricked. My lust for this gorgeous little brunette is rising. And deep down, I know that I can’t just leave her like this, conscious or unconscious.“Alright,” I say after a long pause, “here’s the deal. I let you go. We fight. If you win, you can kill me. If I win, then I take you with me. Agreed?”“I don’t seem to have much choice,” Lorna breathes.I push myself up against her even harder, being careful not to touch any of the sticky spider web strands. This close, with her quivering, warm body against me, the smell of her hair in my nostrils and the feel of her smooth bare skin against me, I find my desire hardening and quickening. For a moment I almost lose control of myself entirely.“This isn’t about you,” I say right into her ear. “Or your sleeping friend there. This is about me. Now hold still.” I pull myself away, snatch the dagger off the ground, and begin cutting. It only takes a few minutes of strategically-placed swipes to clear the webs away. Lorna falls to the ground, eying me warily like a wild animal.I take a step back. Sticking the dagger in my belt, I pull out the thick rag and soak it with solona oil.Lorna rises gracefully to her feet. Seeing her like this in front of me, no longer trapped by the web, I am impressed at her lithe physique and her shapely curves. She is much more comely and fetching than I had realized. I toss the flask of solona oil back into the satchel, and stand with the soaked rag in my hand. Lorna flashes me a teasing grin. “Is this how you like your prey, hunter? Helpless and unarmed?”I pull out the dagger from my belt with my free hand, then toss it on the ground in front of Lorna. “There. That better?”Lorna bends down slowly to pick up the dagger, her eyes on me the whole time. “I will kill you, you know.”“I know,” I say with a sad smile. “And I won’t kill you. Ready?”Lorna stands to her full height, the dagger ready in her hand. “Ready.”This is beyond insane. I had this gorgeous girl right where I wanted her. It would have been so easy to have just knocked her out. I could even have cut her loose and left her. Instead I’m now facing down a dangerous female warrior armed with nothing but a wet piece of cloth. And I’m still somehow aroused. Lorna begins to pace to the side, the dagger held firmly in her hand. She studies me carefully with her green eyes, as if probing for weakness.I circle the opposite direction, feeling every muscle in my body grow tense and ready for action. I am struck again by just how perfectly beautiful this brunette is. The way her body is poised, like a tiger ready to strike at any moment, shows just how much hidden strength and agility she actually has in her voluptuous form. Lorna comes at me. Her dagger flashes through the air.I dodge back. The sharp blade narrowly misses me.Lorna takes a quick step forward and stabs at my chest.I pivot to one side, avoiding the thrust. I’m fast, faster than I thought possible. This island must be affecting me physically as well as mentally. I feel like a wild animal myself. I’m smiling. Actually enjoying myself. Lorna recovers quickly. She steps swiftly to one side, her emerald eyes watching me.“You are so beautiful,” I say, my eyes running down the girl’s magnificent curves.“Beautiful and deadly,” Lorna says with a smile. She dashes at me, her dagger swiping and slashing.I duck and jump back, barely avoiding a cutting blow across my windpipe. One of the return swipes slices across my arm.“First blood,” Lorna says triumphantly.I glance down at the cut on my arm. It burns like hell, but it’s not too deep. The bigger issue is how I’m going to actually win this fight. I have no good plan. A cloth, even one soaked in solona oil, is no match for a dagger. And yet I’m still grinning like a madman.“What are you smiling at?” Lorna asks. She’s panting, a sheen of sweat on her face.I shrug, never taking my eyes off her. “Just enjoying the view.”“You won’t be enjoying it for long,” Lorna sneers. She feints to my right, then makes a determined stab forward, right at my heart. I move hardly without thinking, twist like a serpent to one side and grab Lorna’s outstretched arm. Lorna swings her free arm at me but I duck underneath the blow and keep my hand firmly on her wrist that holds the dagger. I pull her against me and clamp the soaked cloth over her pretty face....
