Description Concept from a cancelled game project.

Done for Frogster Interactive Pictures AG
Art Direction: Boris Kiselicki

By now the pieces are almost two years old and I'm definitely noticing mistakes, but I figured I'd show them anyway. I still had fun working on them.

Hope you guys like them =]

Aww, thank you, Megan, but you are being too kind. =] The GW 2 stuff is really exceptional, I'm nowhere close to that
I do appreciate your compliment though Happy New Year!

The perspective and angles you use are amazing! How do you think them up haha!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

memod In reply to Holly-Mellor [2012-07-28 14:07:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Holly On that project my AD constantly pushed me to do angled views, which was a good thing =] Sometimes they really add a nice dynamism to a piece. Just try it, it's fun

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holly-Mellor In reply to memod [2012-07-28 22:22:40 +0000 UTC]

It certainly does add dynamism to the piece! How do you go about it, do you use perspective grids or just do it free hand?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

memod In reply to Holly-Mellor [2012-07-29 18:25:14 +0000 UTC]

On paper I always do it freehand, digitally it varies. sometimes freehand, but most of the time I'll quickly shift click with the brush to get some straight lines...still doing it quickly though, only takes a few seconds. If i need to be really accurate, then I use a grid that I got saved as a file =] The difficult part with a tilted horizon is to retain a sense for the verticals. especially when you have a third vanishing point

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holly-Mellor In reply to memod [2012-07-30 09:19:19 +0000 UTC]

I see! I'm going to have to try this out sometime, I find my art is lacking on the dynamic front haha. Thanks for the advice mate

memod In reply to Holly-Mellor [2012-07-30 12:16:13 +0000 UTC]

Anytime =] Perspective systems certainly are really helpful. For me they just give me a sense of space in which I can move =]

Or maybe not death, but the essence of the city being forlorn? I dunno, I can't express that for some reason.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

memod In reply to junoknight [2012-07-28 14:11:01 +0000 UTC]

Well I think the colours are mostly result of the location being of a rather nordic climate. So the weather is rough and cold. But yes, it's certainly a fortified city that has to face battle on a regular basis

Thank you!

Wow. This one is phenomenal. I love the detail in the rocks and how abysmal the whole scene is. The color scheme portrays the death of a city really well.

This is boss. I love how the angle feels like leaning out from a high crag overlooking the whole scene. It made me start to feel vertigo after I stared at it, very immersing!

Schade, dass das Projekt beendet wurde. Die Stimmung in dem Bild ist super. Perspektive ist auch schΓΆn gewΓ€hlt.

Ich merke schon, ich mutiere langsam aber sicher zum Fangirl.
