Dratini, adorable as fuck.

So this is what I think Dragonite should've looked like instead. Or something like this at least. You know, resemble Dratini & Dragonair, but just be bigger and prettier! Like Lapras could almost be Dragonite if you ask me.
ANYWAY. TOTALLY RANDOM STUFF.
I'm not even a Pokéfag anymore, I jumped ship after Pokémon Yellow, pretty much.
But this has always bugged me and I needed to get it out of my systeeeeem x'D

i too have always been disappointed with Dragonite.
i feel it more resembles Charizard's unwanted cousin than a Dragonair evolution.

hahaha i've met very few people who genuinely like Dragonite.
though it may resemble pete's dragon in it's shiny form i shall never evolve my Dragonair, ever xD

Eh, I'm more of a fan of the original design. This design is awesome, but it's more of a... "Mega Evolution" of Dragonair itself, to me.
The original design may be a radical shift in color and shape, but that IS how some reptiles grow. Also, I view the big belly it has as a durable "air sack" to supplement flight without giving up its new levels physical power.
May fave this later.

This is my new head-cannon. I don't care anymore, I'm forever seeing Dragonite as this, how it was supposed to look. Maybe if Dragonite looked like this, I'd like it, but the original dragonite design is freaking stupid >.>

XDD that's a good point, though it never really bothered me. It's not like we really know what dragons look like/do, so maybe it changes forms drastically after its first stages, like how caterpie goes into butterfree?
the only reason that makes sense to us is because it follows real life. but if we hadn't known that, then the concept would seem bizarre to us. So maybe it's the same with dragonite, you know?

I'm mostly basing my objections/idea on other Pokémon, like say Bulbasaur-Ivysaur-Venusaur, Squirtle-Warturtle-Blastoise, Charmander-Charmeleon-Charizard etc. <--- All of these had relatively similar forms, and I was hoping/dreaming that Dratini-Dragonair-Dragonite would've been something like that, too. XD
Buuuuut to my great disappointment, it was not!
They're fantasy creatures sure, and they can do whatever they want with them, of course... I was just always hoping it would've been something like this instead haha. So I art-pooped my feels. xP

Oh my gosh, I was thinking about the exactly same thing just today, when I was playing my Soul Silver and decided to take Dratini to my team for the first time... I love Pokemopn to death, and Dragonair is my number one dragon type ever, and... well, Dragonite is one of the best in OU (Over Used) in Pokemon battles, but I'm not really fan of the design.
This, however, is amazing fan made design. It keeps the elegant and beautiful colours and looks of Dragonair and takes them to next level. It's still very elegant, but has that lovely matured look, which is just something to be expected from the last evolution step. Love it.
