A people thrice exiled, the Exiles of Kotimaa are anything but privileged. First, the Stamfædre, progenitors were forced to leave Old Earth as it scorched from artificial flame, next, the Forfædre, ancestors fled from Æon as it died in darkness. Finally there was only the Ismænd, banished from their refuges in the inhabited worlds of humanity. The Ismænd sought to leave, resigning themselves to spread out from all that was known, never again would they be forced from their homes.

Centuries passed, and though some stuck to the ancient traditions and culture of their Ismænd heritage such as those of, others chose to change, these others were the Kotimaan. The Kotimaan called themselves Exiles, wishing to reclaim what had been lost so long ago, yet unlike the Stamfædre, the Forfædre, and the Ismænd; the Kotimaan have the power to back up their claims. Other groups descended from the Ismænd, though they cling to their ancient traditions. All aside from the Kotimaan themselves are a mystery, still the latter have many mysteries of their own, as no outsider has ever landed on their homeworld.

Time will tell if the Kotimaan and their Ismænd kin can move past their old traditions and reconnect their lost brethren or again fade away into myth and legend.
