I remember when a storm like this hit my area about two years ago. You could hear cracking of breaking branches all day!

It's an eerie sound. You certainly don't want to walk beneath any trees. There such terrible damage, and yet the beauty is breathtaking.

It's beautiful and ugly at the same time. The weight of the ice on the branches breaks a lot of them. When you were outside, you would hear thunderous cracking sounds, then the crash to the ground and the tinkling shatter of the ice as it hits. There were so many limbs broken in town that the city had to have special pick up to get them all. It took two months to get them all picked up. It shut the schools down for three days, because there wasn't electricity and there were so many downed power lines, they didn't want kids walking to school.
