Fear of my imperfections seeps into meAnd begins to spread outwards, creeping
And looming over me as a dark shadow
Waiting to overtake me.
The shadow at once looms, but it also dances;
Fear and I are in a swift yet slow waltz
Where we spin and twirl in a dangerous
Spiral of insecurities.
I have created the dark creature
That I sway and promenade with,
For fear is something that is created in
Our own hearts.
Fear can be combatted with love and hope;
But if no love is to be found in the darkness,
One may find it using the bright light of hope,
The flame of the soul.
When the dance with that dark figure quickens,
I must remember the light within my being
That can end my sickening dance with the shadow,
For hope will abolish fear.
