Was it fun cosplaying as Rapunzel?

Yes! The first time I wore this cosplay was at a 3-day convention. I spent day 1 and 2 as Rapunzel (^-^). However, the temperature was so high that weekend, that I went for other clothes on the third day...

Was it cold for your feet?

Not at all - I think the temperature that weekend was around 30 degrees Celsius!

Was it fun not wearing shoes for that cosplay?

Luckily it was a convention at a location where you could walk without shoes, so yes
I think that if you cosplay a character that does not wear shoes, you shouldn't wear shoes either (though at some conventions, it's not possible to walk barefooted).

So that's a yes?

Yes
Many of my favourite characters are actually barefoot, but I think that "barefooted" is also something that authors use to express personality aspects of their characters. It shows their personality isn't exactly conforming to society's accepted norms, because wearing shoes is the accepted norm. In the case of Rapunzel, she doesn't wear shoes because she has been raised "outside" of her country's society (and why would she need shoes if she's only ever staying inside anyway?). In the Disney movie Tarzan, of course Tarzan is outside the human society. When he wants to join Jane and her father to go to the "civilized" world, he dresses in his human father's clothes (including shoes). But when Jane joins Tarzan, she walks barefooted!

Agreed. And being barefoot is what makes Rapunzel and Jane cute.

No comment on that one.
Y'know, Princess Eilonwy from "The Black Cauldron" was supposed to be barefoot as well.

Yes, that would fit the books! Which are also very nice, btw
Plus, it fits her character - she was not entirely conforming to the norms of the society she lived in either.

The page prydain.wikia.com/wiki/Princes… has a description about that as well:
She seemed to prefer going barefoot over wearing shoes; prior to sending Eilonwy to her relatives on the Isle of Mona for a proper education, Dallben mentioned her "unshod feet". When she had to wear shoes, as in The Book of Three, they were invariably sandals.

A while ago I also came across Kathy Bowman's weblog (and books). Walking barefoot seems to be healthy as well: nutritiousmovement.com/categor…

Looks pretty cool there. Nice patterns on the dress and an amusing handmade Chameleon on shoulder there!
