Nah, I think super long hair is seen as cool as long as it's treated properly, which does indeed takes a lot of expert treating, otherwise it may cause the person to look kinda bald because of their hair's own weight.

That depends heavily on where you live. In many places I can see that being in the case. In the mid northern USA? People will quietly scorn you.
I can say from experience that a french braid helps, but you really do not want to have multiple braids at once it makes other people's opinion of you worse rather then better
