Another excerpt from my latest comic
While drawing the first panel I knew it could make for a good looking ID picture, and since the current one I have still has the new year's hat then it seemed fitting to change it.
The title is an obvious reference to a classic Sci-Fi film from the 50's, go look it up if you ever wondered what would Leslie Nielsen look like with black hair.

seems like a small amount of people did get the reference, while others though I was just calling myself a monster.

I can understand people not getting FP's reference though, it is kind of a obscure film at this point, even though at the same time is a classic example of 50's sci-fi, plus of course the added bonus of seeing black haired Leslie Nielsen in a non comedy role.

It's a really great film. I got to see it in my Science Fiction class in college. Gotta love how deep it is as well. You can watch it on a lot of different levels.

yeah, I just sort of picked out of a random list of classic sci-fi I had been meaning to watch, the production quality reminded me of Star Trek TOS at first, but as it turns out the script delved into a Star Trek type of story as well, the potential side effects of scientific experimentation even when the point of it was to create something that seemed good to everyone who would be informed about the basic concept.
I've seen that side effect of mental powers in several stories though, C.S.Lewis wrote it in a chapter of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the videogame Fragile Dreams had a similar concept, and I recall Lovecraft also writing a story with a similar concept of a "dark side of the mind" creature.
The monster also reminded me of the Cave of Wonders from Aladdin, I haven't looked into it but I'd be willing to bet Disney was referencing Forbidden Planet
