Yes, Lily is quite horrible to Sev, isn't she? Yet somehow she has a reputation for being an angel. She was angelic to Harry, who was her own flesh and blood, but she had no obligation to be nice to the ugly boy from Spinner's End, so she wasn't.

I don't remember her being mean to sev? I know that they were friends before and during school and she didn't approve of the way james treated sev. from what I remember, she stopped being friends with sev because he called her a mudblood and ended up falling for james (for what ever reason).

If you read through all the interactions we're shown between Lily and Severus, there's not a single one in which she's not putting him down, blaming him for something, placing conditions on him, or finding him inadequate in some way. We never see her just accepting him, as he is, as a friend. He's always having to work at being good enough for her, and never quite succeeding. Just like we are told James reformed but we never see it happen, we are told Lily was a good friend to Severus but we never actually see it on the page.
