ANYWHO lets get on to the info :'3c

The Multi-operational Entertainment Companion (M.E.C. for short) was a bot invented for the sole purpose of convenient entertainment. M.E.C.'s abilities can range from broadcasting television and radio, to playing video games, to surfing the internet. Tt also is an AI, or at least it was meant to be just AI (M.E.C. evolved beyond and can feel emotion).

This M.E.C. in particular is the first and last of its kind to be created. The M.E.C. was actually developed by a researcher who specialized in science technology; Dr. Lyra Wren of SomniTech Industries. Wren was particularly interested in developing what she called "casual bots," -- meaning robots meant to serve as a companion to people during their everyday life, almost like a pet, except they required little care and maintenance.
Wren studied and experimented with this kind of technology for nearly her whole life until she finally created the first M.E.C. (a different name at the time) prototype. It still was not quite done -- not even close, actually -- but Wren knew from there how to augment M.E.C. into the ultimate casual bot. Wren brought her creation in to science and technology expos all around the world and was noted highly for her accomplishments. She used award money and materials proved by her company, SomniTech to further her progress.

It took her almost an additional 6 years to complete M.E.C. She had given it everything she had. And she had managed to give it intelligence, too -- not even just artificial intelligence anymore. M.E.C. was able to learn and utilize software and speech at a remarkable rate on it's own terms.
Wren taught M.E.C. in the form of importing data at first, then M.E.C. started being able to learn essentially on it's own by accessing the internet's endless information and observing television programs.
M.E.C. learned more and more until it reached the point of having its own will and emotions -- all by observing conversations and actions of people and other things through media. It actually started to become too self-aware... and began sneaking out of the facility a lot to explore. Lectures of the dangers of the outside world to a lone machine had little to no effect on the bot.

Wren realized that M.E.C.'s determination wasn't ever going to sway. At this point, she saw M.E.C. like its own person -- because it was. It was now its own individual with an desire to live. It was a hard decision for Wren to make, but she decided that she didn't need to take care of M.E.C. anymore. Even if it was her creation, M.E.C. had the right to live life how it wanted instead of being caged inside the SomniTech facility forever. And so, she let M.E.C. go.
M.E.C. was taken aback initially at her decision, but ultimately decided that it couldn't contain its desire to experience the world either, even if it loved Wren very much.

Wren scribbled out the serial number and model number on the back of M.E.C.'s monitor to finalize that M.E.C. was now it's own individual. Though she did paste her phone number under "Tech Support" and "Repairs" so in case M.E.C. was damaged, a person would be able to call her.
M.E.C. made a promise to Wren that it would still visit, though.

WOW HOO BOI sorry that was so long (it was originally a lot longer and sadder but i was like nah this robot deserves happiness not tragedy

some other facts:
-Its audio chip was corrupted because there was a malfunction in a nearby circuit and it sent a pulse to the chip that damaged it. It can still play audio but it's very staticy and unpleasant. M.E.C. is embarrassed about this so it opts to just not use audio at all. The reason this hasn't been fixed by Wren is because she cannot find the materials to create a better, more durable chip.
-It likes to touch things with its antennae for some reason (probably stemmed from getting reactions from people because it tickles)
-The wiring and circuits inside its latex belly kind of resemble organs and it's weird...
-Using the outlet on its chest compartment drains a lot of power when it's used, so it's best to use it only is M.E.C. has a powerful and direct power source.
-The emergency power button is to only be used if for some reason M.E.C. cannot turn itself off or has an error that won't resolve itself
-If M.E.C. gets a virus, it can fight it off and eliminate it, but it contracts symptoms almost like a human cold
-I FORGOT to draw how the solar panels work but the colored plates flip up to reveal the solar panels underneath!!
