I've had some interesting experiences with pigs...
I have a pet pig with a saddle and everything in one of my worlds. His name is (unofficially) Carlos. I tried to put a name tag on him, but when I moved the crosshair over his name after a while, the name wasn't there. I tried it again; same result. His name's still Carlos.
