Description
Since the fall of Earth on October 22nd, 2020, majority of Earth City's that resisted the Empire were either severely damaged beyond repair, or leveled to the ground completely. One of these such cities was Shanghai in China, that the Galactic Empire was able to destroy in the Summer of 2020, through the use of a combination of Orbital Bombardments, heavy artillery, or urban warfare.
The Peoples army struggled to hold Shanghai for 1 whole year since 2019, but the heavy destruction caused by Orbital Bombardments and Artillery strikes led to the city being abandoned and deserted. During the Imperial Occupation of Earth, the city of Shanghai was so damaged that by 2041 nearly all that was left of the towering skyscrapers were nothing but piles of ruble, apart from some Imperial structures within certain sections of the city, Shanghai was never rebuilt, and the Empire walled it off, in 2024, where it became a prison Wall City for those who defied the Galactic Empire.
The wastelands were known to be extremely haunted, from many Chinese prisoners who were stuck within the Wall Prison City, claimed to have witnessed the ghosts and spirits of former Shanghai Residents walking through the streets every night, along with strange sounds of screams of terror from during the days of the city's fall.
This outcome would drive most of the walled off prisoners into total madness, throughout the years of the Imperial Occupation of Earth.
The Walls were breached by the New Republic by the year 2046 and the ruins were liberated after over 26 years of Imperial rule. The city itself however would not be so fortunate, as due to PTSD and too many bewitched sightings over the times of the prisoners of China witnessing within the walls of the former Chinese port city, the ruins of Shanghai was left to rest, as a new memorial was placed by the New Republic under the directions of the Chinese people, in order to honor the people who perished in 2020, during the city's fall.
Shanghai was replaced in the year 2087 by New Zang, a port city located on the Southern China coastline just about 10 miles from where the ruins of Shanghai once stood.
