Lucius sat within his home, stirring a pot of stew he'd made for him and his wife to consume for sustenence that evening. He wasn't used to cooking so much since he usually had Laurel do it for him, however with the result of her pregnancy, he took over the duties himself. He smelt the steam wafting from the mixture, and he felt proud of himself for the moment, until he remembered to stomp out the fire. The last time he'd cooked, he forgot to do so and burnt their dinner so terribly the smell muddled the water for a few days, but he still ate it with a disappointed look in his face, which she laughed and ate as well. The man looked to the window after relinquishing the flames to see it was past dark and Laurel should have been home by now. Perhaps she'd gotten lost, he thought. He poured a couple bowls of the soup and set them on the table, as he sat down as well, now waiting for her arrival.

An hour had past already and her supper had become cold, and he sat annoyed. Where the devil was she? Just then his ears picked up the sound of pounding, like someone was being beaten, right outside his front porch. He jolted to his feet and rushed to the door, recognizing the cries of the victim. The door swung open to reveal his wife, and a group of men with torches, a few holding their pitchforks towards her. Lucius gasped upon seeing the condition she was in. Her lip was bruised and bleeding, and her head was gashed by a stone. The demon roared at the men in a furious howl. He was going to destroy them for this. His claws unsheathed and raised towards the eldest of the group, he took a heavy step forward, licking his lips like a wild animal at his prey. Lucius suddenly winced, looking back at Laurel, then back at the men. He had a sudden recollection, that his wife didn't like it when he killed, even for her sake. The demon lowered his arm slowly. He cursed himself as he turned around and helped her to her feet. "LEAVE... ALL OF YOU. BEFORE I KILL ALL OF YOU..." He threatened to try and sway them away from his abode.

A young man in the group approached the couple, pitchfork in hand, aimed at the Devil. "You've become soft, Master." He chuckled, and Lucius turned to him with a furrowed brow. "Before this woman came to Harkward, you showed no mercy. You gave no favors and had no favorites. You had no love in your heart for anything except the blood on your hands and the souls you consumed. But now..." He eyed Laurel, and she hid behind her husband's large bicep to avoid the boy's prejudice glare. "You found a way to love a simple whore and even had the gall to bless her with your child. That makes two things you have found love for, and it's sickening." "I'D CHOOSE MY WORDS CAREFULLY IF I WERE YOU, BOY. THAT TONGUE OF YOURS WOULD LOOK BETTER IN A SEAHORSE'S ASS." The boy shrugged off the demon's words, laughing to himself before he quickly, and without warning, lunged his weapon up into Lucius's rib cage. The pained screams of the Devil's spawn rang in the village, notifying everyone that their Master was getting his just desserts. Laurel screamed and ran to the front of him to attempt and remove the pitchfork, but the second she got close, Ramundus grabbed her and dragged her away by her hair, pulling at her scalp.

Lucius glared at them with the intent of murder in his now enraged eyes as his pupils began to show. "LAUREL!!" He screeched at Ramundus who just chuckled and licked her cheek. The other men in the group crowded the red devil as he thrashed in the sand, each getting a shot of their pitchforks at him. Each man stabbed him as fast as their mortal bodies would allow, and the Demon wailed in pain. Lucius's focus was on Laurel, actively trying to get around the men but their weapon's were somehow making him sluggish, as if the blades had been poisoned. He hacked up a glob of black blood-oil that steadily dribbled down his chin and finally onto the loose sand. His sharp teeth clenched and began to grind as he got some of his barings once again. Lucius's tail shot through the man behind him like an arrow as he swiped at the men ahead with razor-like claws. Ramundus watched as the body of Virgil fought against his brethren, and giggled under his breath. The old man looked over Laurel's shoulder at her belly that still carried that demon's seed. "This... will pay for my men's lives, you Witch..." He grinned.

Lucius arm was held on tightly by another elderly man who had somewhat of a surprisingly strong grip for his age. The man was able to drop Lucius to one knee and hold him in place as the young man neared him with his weapon once again. He roared at them both in anger and frustration, but was soon silenced by the blood curdling shriek of his wife a few feet from his grasp, as a pitchfork was shoved through her back, piercing her heart and womb at once.

At that moment his mind shut down. He felt sick. The smell of her blood and his unborn infant's drifted into his nostrils. He hunched over and began to throw up. The scent was numbing but sweet in his mind. He couldn't think anymore after that. Lucius covered his mouth at the sight of her, as he felt her life diminish from her body. He no longer felt her presence, nor his daughter's.
